Stuck and sir82 have it correct.

The presenter is an married uber elder regular pioneer who moved into the Niddrie cong some time ago.

Some friends recognised his voice.

So far there is no evidence that this proposal to the elder body saw the light of day....

The guy is renowned for being 'up himself' ,,,, full of his own importance

Edit to add,,,,, on the western side of melbourne, morning door knocking during the week yields around 6% of doors answered.... no one is home or they refuse to answer when they see the field circus arrive.

So I guess the interesting question is : HOW did this video become public knowledge? Did it get uploaded somewhere? How did it see the light of day if the elders didn't implement it?

Evidently, one of the elders attending this meeting leaked it.

Not sure why he would do so. Why would some half-assed plan cooked up by one gooberish elder in one congregation, out of 100,000+ congregations, matter to anyone outside of that area?

Seems like high-risk low-reward behavior, to leak it. There's only a handful of guys (one of the elders in that congregation) who could have done so.

I didn't think elders were allowed to make up their own talks/plans anymore?

An explanation from whoever leaked it would be helpful.

Or the elder is pissed off the others didn't like his suggestions and so he put it out there.

It did look a little like a home rehearsal to me. No coughing, no interjections ( which would be the norm at eldubs meetings) and the background doesn't resemble any areas of the Niddrie hall as i recall it.

I'm still trying to track down if any of this was implemented. Although I will say,,,, something like this would travel quickly through the jw rumour mill.

I do lean toward Stucks idea. Perhaps that's why he moved from another cong to this one !?

It makes sense to go door to door when people are at home. However, most JWs don't really want to talk to anyone much either anyway. Years (maybe decades ago) some ruling came out to go door to door prior to the "book study" night meeting (8pm) so to go about 6:30pm.(?) That lasted some weeks, but died out. I went with my dad but didn't like it at all, especially as it darkened in the winter by then.

In 1975, a circuit overseer made a ruling during one week, that everyone should work alone, so as to cover the "territory" better, faster because of end "so soon" then. The sisters mumbled to me how they didn't like it. I just settled them down that after the circuit overseer left that we can just go back to working together again. (I had just left Bethel some months prior and had lost some unquestioning spirit by then and was then in a long, unraveling process of questioning thousands of knots and tangles of JWdom.)

Anyway, most JWs don't like going door-to-door, not really.

Well, yeah - IF your goal is to "reach as many people as possible".

On the other hand, if your goal is to get the maximum number of "hours" for your end of month report with the least amount of "being bothered by having to, you know, actually talk to somebody", well, Saturday morning field serve-us is exactly what you do.

Which of those goals do 90+% of JWs have?
