Yep, taps out, throws in the towel, waves the white flag! In today's watchtower it basically said don't expect any results due to widespread apathy and opposition. But you can still bear fruit just by going through the motions of being regular in field service. Many seeds on the fine soil can be planted in one's self just by reaffirming our faith by going out in the ministry! Gave a fine example of 2 seniors who do cart witnessing 6 days a week spending their time just smiling at people as they walk by. And what a fine witness it is! Can you set the bar any lower?! Sheesh!
WT gives up on making disciples! No joke!

Perhaps a return to the "internal ministry"?
You can never get enough fruits of the spirit.

That's really a humiliating acknowledgement. They don't even have that illusion- and yet they are required to prove their loyalty by wasting their lives. What a fine witness in futility.

Yep - I had a discussion with another PIMO who went to this and he said that the WT conductor said the fruit of the work is scattering seeds not the actual fruit that grows.
Most of the answers were self justification about how "this article makes me feel good even though I don't get much in the way of results."
So a big pat on the back for sitting on your derriere watching the world go by and having the bus driver call out "Good Job!" and a kiddie "waves" on her way to school.
And the only really commendable thing that happened was that some "worldly" gave them a bunch of flowers.
5 hours a day, six days a week on a trolley in your eighties. 30 hours and no response;
#HOPELESS WASTE OF A LIFE.

The elder at my JC ask me about going out in service I told them it’s a waste of time . They pretty much agreed but One of them said that going out was a benefit to the ones in the congregation. They knew recruiting people wasn’t happening anymore.

I was thinking the same thing about the wt study today. WOW what a load of sh*t they fed the sheeple today.
"It's not about the results, it's about the effort (field service time)." was the message I heard today!
I'm sure it was comforting to hear that sitting on your ass for 30 hours a week insures god's blessing!
The jw's at our meeting today eat it up!
just saying!

Witnessing by going to house to house was the only known method in the first century. Today more and effective witnessing could be done without resorting to house-to-house (or going out in person) using all available modes of communication. Going out in person is like using a boat to travel across a river even when there is a bridge just because one's ancestors used to cross that river by boat as there was no bridge in their time.

It's all about control, and keeping the flock busy!
Just like when you're on a long car trip with young children. In order to keep them from going crazy, we create games like "let's see who can count the most amount of yellow cars" or something inane like that.
It simply keeps them occupied and interested.
No different to the "spiritual activities" that the GB have the flock do.

Yeah, that was a really bizarre article.
So you are judged, not on results or effectiveness or even efficiency, but on effort.
Matthew 28:19,20, in the re-revised NWT, to come out in a few years:"Go therefore and make an effort to talk about something or other. Doesn't much matter what you say, or even if people are at home. Just shuffle around on the street for a while, or stand mutely at a cart that everyone ignores, or, heck, just ride around in a car while Sister Zealous does her return visits. Don't much matter. Just have to look like you're busy. Whatever. "
