    Enlisted Annual Salary

    Below is the FY 2003 Average Annual Salary Chart for military enlisted personnel.

    It's really impossible to produce an actual annual salary chart. This is because there are many variables to military pay.

    Some jobs are entitled to an enlistment or re-enlistment bonus, and some jobs are not. Some people live in free on-base government quarters (barracks or base housing) and others live off-base and receive a housing allowance. The amount of the housing allowance depends on the person's location, and whether or not they have dependents.

    Additionally, some people receive a monetary food allowance, and some people do not (instead, they get free meals in the "chow hall.")

    The below chart shows average annual military salary for enlisted personnel, to include base pay, average housing allowance, monetary food allowance, and the "tax advantage" of untaxed allowances. The charts do not include items such as overseas housing allowance, overseas COLA (cost of living allowance), enlistment or reenlistment bonuses, or other bonuses and allowances that many servicemembers are entitled to.

    The base pay raise will be effective on January 1, 2003, which means that military members should see the raise in their January 15th paycheck.

    Ok, that is a notch below scumbag. I remembered my grandfather today, who served on a ship in pearl harbor, and had to swim to shore in his underwear.

    Those salary figures also include the suppossed value of our medical insurance, pension contributions, etc etc etc. I garuntee none of us soldiers see anywhere NEAR that much money.

    Trauma Hound, I assume you're calling the fake vets "below scumbag". This has been well documented, the VA's screening ain't so good and these nut cases take valuable resources needed by folks like your grandfather.

    I was staring and staring at that pay chart trying to figure out where in the world those numbers came from. I wish the pay were that much.

    Some soldiers qualify for food stamps,

    Any soldier who has 1-2 or more children in the pay grade E-1 through E-6 ( in some cases as high as E-7 dependant on number of children) automatically is approved for WIC ( Women Infants and Children ) Most soldiers to the rank of E-4 ( married with children ) qualify for food stamps some as high as E-5. The majority of the enlisted soldier (the backbone of the Army IMO) E-1 through E-5, statistically speaking these ranks are most predominant in the Army.

    I think that for a large percentage of the Army's soldiers to quality for assistance is deplorable
