I'm amazed the Watchtower hasn't started one of these, A guaranteed way to sucker in the youth of the borg.

With Oral Roberts University as successful as it is, how long to the JW's start one ??????

What do you think the classes would be called ??????

    - New World Translation 101

    - 1914 101

    - Why you don't need sex 101

    - Field Service 101

What would it be like to attend ???????

    - kingdom melodies playing all day/night

    - bring your own food

    - donation boxes in every class

Just think how much they could charge each student for attending, and call the charges upkeep of the university.

What die-hard JW wouldn't send their kids there, it would blow Bethel away.

    Gotta hear your responses !!!!!!!!

What nightmares you have spawned! Of course they won't start a university, unless it's a home-schooled one -- that would take time away from service!

They already consider the home based bible study and congregation meetings as equivelent to a college education . I always thought that bethel was considered to be some sort of university.

They do have a university and it is called Gilead, it is an accredited school with diplomas and everything.

    Proclaimers Book p 538

Students who have attended Gilead School have represented scores of nationalities and have come to the school from over 110 lands.

The first international group was the sixth class, in 1945-46.

Application was made to the U.S. government for foreign students to be admitted under nonimmigration student visa provisions. In response, the U.S. Office of Education gave recognition to Gilead School as offering education comparable to professional colleges and educational institutions. Thus, since 1953, U.S. consuls throughout the world have had the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead on their list of approved educational institutions. As of April 30, 1954, this school appeared in the publication entitled "Educational Institutions Approved by the Attorney General."

The nightmarish scene that those words induced! I had a waking vision that my college years were actually spent at some kind of Bethel boot camp, learning creationism and Bible chronology - and certainly not a coed establishment!

    Ahhhh!

    LOL at run-don’t-walk :

But I think you forgot about the graduate level courses:

    -NON-Critical Thinking 601

-Adjusting to New Light, Again 603

-Pioneering Until You Are Old and Gray 620

And we can’t forget the obligatory thesis needed for graduation:

‘Child Molestation In Our Ranks, a Secret Worth Keeping’

Hopefully such nonsense will never become reality in my lifetime. Thanks for the chuckle.

Does this mean that if one were invited to Gilead School they, if a sincere JW, would have to turn down the offer because they have been trained their whole life to not seek higher education?

education comparable to professional colleges and educational institutions.

    Let's see now...

    "professional colleges" = trade schools?

    "educational institutions" = kindergartens?
