Well, brummie, let's say that they are developmentally challenged people, like FAS, and have horrible behaviors that need to be stopped. We don't want these people going back into institutions.... but, that is where they will be if they don't stop doing what they do! So, here we come in, to help them stop it... to give them the exact opposite of what they seek. If they want you to be shocked... don't be shocked. If they do something that they feel is nothing, make a big deal out of it.... we develop care plans to stop it, and work together as a team to do it. Nothing that is done is done just by myself... social workers, psychologists, day programs all get involved.... we can usually stop the behaviors, and keep it under control to the extent that they can live in society and be much much happier in their lives than living in an old fashioned institution....
Hey, what the hell is this thread about?
Anyways, feel free to PM me too! I would love to know what kind of work you do, too. It's pretty hard to talk, though, when dealing with confidential matters (something I like to take very seriously.... for the clients sake...) That last bit, even though I did not mention names, or anything was still not appropriate. I feel sorry for our clients, and try to help them the best that I can, and make them feel good about themselves...
Hey, what is this thread about????
