    G'day all,

How's your weekend going? Here in New South Wales, with blue skies and sunshine by day and crisp nights, it's simply beautiful! Today Mrs Ozzie and I met up with friends from the Navy for a beachside picnic. The very finest Cab Sav flowed! A lovely day!

Around us were happy groups enjoying just being together and it got me thinking, about how weekends may be so much different nowadays for so many. How about you? Let's make that our weekend poll question.

    4. Found out I did have family and friends!!!

    5. Breakfast in bed.

    6. Bed!

    7. Actually have time for meditation.

    8. Picnics

    9. The washing up!

    10. Watch TV.

    11. Spend quality time with partner.

    12. Spend quality time with family.

    13. Don't feel so tired.

So, what do you think? Looking forward to reading your reminiscences.

    Enjoy.

    Cheers, Ozzie

As far as Saturdays, I never went out in the field service on Saturdays, because too many people were home....

I went out in the field service on week day mornings early, not to meet too many people.

Only Sundays changed. Now It's ALL mine.

Saturday mornings I take my kids to swim lessons instead of out in service! Sundays are fun now.

Today we slept until 9am (Zoe was up at 7 watching tv) and Steve left to go scuba diving for crab. Rhys cut his foot and can't walk on his stitches for three days so the kids and I are hanging out at home. If he could walk, we'd be at the Edmonds Waterfront Festival having a ball!

I can't imagine how horrible meetings would be with my kids. We love to keep active and busy and our lives would be so different if we had to spend weekends banging on doors and sleeping through meetings..

I don't hate weekends as much as I used to. When we were dubs, it was: get up early on Saturday, get everyone fed, showered and ready for service. They met at our house, so we didn't have to go too early.

Sunday's it was repeated, but to get to the KH. Dave conducted the WT, so was secluded in his office all morning until time to leave, finishing up his preparation. Then service after the meeting...............not everytime, and trying to get the house cleaned up for the week ahead. It was awful..................I hated weekends with a passion.

Now, it's better, but I still have that residual fear of the weekend. I still dread weekends............I guess I will get over it one day. Now it's no schedule..............sleep as long as I can, which isn't long (usually up by 7:30), read paper, drink coffee, and THEN make breakfast.

We are really lazy on weekends now.

The biggest things on your list for us, are 11 & 12, followed by 2, 3 & 4.

The actual quality family time is the most important - something that did not exist when there were all those "other obligations." At the moment, my husband & son are out to breakfast and for a boys day out, some time at the toy store and a few errands. I am having a little quiet time to myself and tonight we are going out to dinner with friends. A nice leisurely weekend, just the way we like it!

She did. My brother's and I used to dread Sundays because dad and mom were in such a crummy mood. They were very consistant about it. She is still grumpy on Sundays sometimes but for the most part she is better now.
