So, if you die before the big A....then I would be resurrected, according to her?? Is that right?

The Witnesses believe everyone who dies before Armaggedon and did not have a chance to accept the bibles message... ( really it's THEIR message) will be resurrected to have a chance to hear the good news or reject it.

If you are resurrected, hear the message, and reject it.......you will be thrown into the "Apostate bonepile". This will be a special designated place for all onlookers to gaze at, to remind the faithful what happens to those who think for themselves. ( this last paragraph is a bold faced lie)

Does having the chance to hear their message include those who turned them away at the door? Like if you refuse to be annoyed on a Saturday morning you get dead with no chance of resurrection just for that? Wow, that's kinda harsh.

And if there really was any truth to the teachings and you got to be resurrected, will the JW teach "the whole truth and nothing but the truth"? Will they not gloss over important points like those who die before the Big A and get resurrected cannot marry nor have a sex life? Seems that might make the decision a bit more difficult than just accepting jehovah's word.

All things being equal, if there really was a resurrection (like they teach) who wouldn't accept jehovah after seeing this first hand? Other than the sex issue, it seems a slam-dunk from this perspective. Even doubting Thomas (the apostle) would believe it after seeing that!

Not if those who rejected them at the doors are alive at Armageddon. If you die BEFORE Armageddon...only do you have a chance for a resurection according to them.

DJ: I asked my mom about this a little while back. One of the rare occasions we speak, about this very question. I was baptized and my brother was not, I was DF'd and my brother just left with me. I asked her why it was ok for her to associate or speak with my brother or others like him and yet it was not ok for her to speak with me? I thought I was pointing out the hypocricy of the - her reply was because we all knew the "faith" I was the only one batized taking and swear an oath to Jehovah and there for I was out the others are in and it is ok for her to associate/speak with them, yes somewhat limited. Also, that they would be waiting for those like my brother on the otherside and she truely believes that she will not see me there? Oh, well.

Sorry about that nonsense ((((((((((((kproscts))))))))))) It is all lies to fill their egos and try to shame those who left to return to their cult. If God said that, then I missed it.I knew all of what they taught since I was 12 and studied with them even as an adult (duh) but I rejected it for the same reasons that all people who can read do. The reasoning that you were baptized and rejected it, while I didn't get baptized because I rejected it is circular and plain stupid. I see you are in PA too. Where? You can pm me if you'd like...thanks for setting me straight about my mom's brain patterns.

The chaff was also interpreted as the "bad" in oneself. Meaning that God only looked at the good part of you and your mistakes, errs.......ie imperfection, was blown off......... blown off as chaff would be. Chaff is the part of the wheat kernel that is worthless or undesireable. So God only looks on your desireable qualities.

    Thanks for your replies

Did anybody ever consider the wheat (the grain) to be those ideas/spirits from stories/parables etc. that are planted within us: and the chaff the stuff (necessary as it is) that doesn't matter, like the stuff people argue as to being 'historically accurate' or not etc. - like the stubble ?

    DJ,

What I was trying to say is that although the Watchtower says your destined to be bird food at Armageddon, she probably knows in HER HEART that this is not true. When you get right down to it, some witnesses, in their heart of hearts, when it comes to their spouses or kids, believe Jehovah will be merciful to them. This is true in MY MOM'S CASE. I guess she's not towing the company line on this one.

I guess the thread has taken a different course since I have been loking up the original question . But anyway - I suspect Paduan referred to John the Baptists words at Mathew 3.12. Here are a couple of WT quotes

    ***

    it-1 p. 425 Chaff ***
The worthless chaff was often gathered and burned to prevent it from blowing back and contaminating the piles of grain. Similarly, John the Baptizer foretold the coming burning destruction of the wicked false religionists—the Thresher, Jesus Christ, will gather in the wheat, "but the chaff he will burn up with fire that cannot be put out."—Mt 3:7-12; Lu 3:17; see THRESHING.

    ***

    w87 6/15 p. 16 Testing and Sifting in Modern Times ***
By the summer of 1918, the once strong, organized voice of public preaching for Jehovah’s Kingdom by the anointed was greatly reduced in volume. It was as if they were ‘killed’ respecting their public activity. (Revelation 11:3, 7) At the time of the Society’s conventions that summer, some apostates turned away and formed their own opposing religious groups. Manifesting the traits of an "evil slave," they were ‘winnowed’ like "chaff" to be separated from Jehovah’s faithful remnant. (Matthew 3:12; 24:48-51)

Guess what ? it is little old US all the time!

It's always little old you - every jw interpretation gravitates toward US is Good, OTHERS is bad - if something is not the important part it must be the OTHERS that = bad, and the more important part is US which = Good.

    I'm sure it's a mental illness.
