I call it a cult also. Once I was in chat and a newbie asked me if I was "in the truth"...I said no that "the truth was in me" she liked that.

I use the "truth" because I say it with sarcasm, not sincerity. I also know that when I post I'm trying to help Jehovah's Witnesses appreciate what is truth vs. false. I think if we all call it a "cult", even if it is, it can shut the mind of a prospective learner, but of course, not necessarily. If I want to talk about the treatment JW's recieve or recieved in the organization, I know that talking derisively may not help them to see anything. When I speak to my family, I might say how the "brothers" are this or that or if I really want to make a point, I might say, instead of the "brothers", "the loving shepherds" or the "older men". Actually, I often enjoy using these terms because I know what the significance is.

LOL. I am always correcting xjws when they use that expression, " the truth"
But Scully makes a good point as Chesses did a few days ago, about using expressions current jws are familar with, so that the "shields" don't go up.
Myself I use witnesses, or like DJ " The Watchtower ", which is a good overall expression to describe jws and their organization..

It's very telling that JWs have no way to describe their religion. Their is no noun that means "Jehovah's-Witness-ism" like there is for almost every other religion (Catholicism, Judaism, Mormonism etc.). that means that JWs have no way to describe their religion except as "the truth". It's very difficult to think that "the truth" may not be true. This kind of mind control (whether deliberate or not) makes it more difficult for people to question the religion.
I just call it that "f%&ked-up cult"
