Can you see the Watchtower saying, no more door to door preaching, lets say within the next ten years ?
What? People are still asking this question?
Way back when I was young (1975) we were led to believe that 1975 we would start the end work preaching that the doors were closed and that all scumbag non-JWs were doomed to die nasty horrible deaths at Armageddon. Ya mean they haven't started it yet?
Oh yeah they changed the rules! Duh me - still waiting for my message of doom
I remember CLEARLY years ago when the preaching work was fortold to come to a stop. Don't recall exactly how long before the big A it was supposed to happen, but it was supposed to happen for sure.
Now some JWs say it will never stop. Some JWs say it will.
There was a "brother" giving a takl at my old KH about 2 years ago, maybe longer, that even said in his talk "the time will come when all preaching work will stop"
I mentioned that to a pioneer sister about a week later in a conversation about that subject and she told me she doubted he even said it. She thinks it will never stop.
The one thing that seperates JWs from all other religions is the fact that they all agree no matter what part of the world they're from.
I would like a dime for everytime I heard that at an assembly.
How many WT & awakes would they move if the door to door work stopped? You would not need to buy (donate under some tax systems) as many rages each week. No, I don't see a shift like that coming in the next ten years.
Well I don`t know as I have not yet seen one at my door in quite some time. Or in my neighborhood. Oh hell there is not even a kingdom hall in my town ...hahahahahahaha HORAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally I found some peace.
I vaguely remember them talking from the stage about how one day the preaching work would end, but I believe it was tied to the end coming.
I don't see the door to door work ever ending, partly because all they are looking for to show the end is coming will never happen. Therefore, they will always be right on the edge.
It's not about contributions from the field - it's about keeping people under control.
In a cult, they deliberately look for ways to make work for people to keep them in the habit of compliance.
Take note of how C.O.'s and elders encourage pioneering and door to door activity even when nothing objective
is accomplished. Busy people don't have time to question about how their lives are being consumed.
Another part of this cult control is the insistence by C.O.'s on keeping book study groups small and trying
to split large congregations into smaller ones. It's just busy work.

METATRON===A great post! It's really all about keeping people so busy, that they have no time for anything else. Even if there are more effective ways to reach people, not doors, this is not stressed and implemented. And the purpose of keeping bookstudies and congregations small is so that they can keep a watchful eye on you.
You can be sure that if they paid them for going door to door, they would stop doing it. They would find something more effective, that works.
Door to door is so outdated. They just mark themselves as an old religion, that doesn't keep up with changing times.
Even the Mormons can wear beards now. ...........they are trying to keep up a bit.

I remember that too.
