Have you ever had an experience that you think revealed you had been visited by a divine being? What was that experience like? How would you know if you had encountered a "god" or "goddess"? Was it just your imagination?

Our Mission: to help those new to Polytheism, or new to certain divine influences in their lives, to discover and understand the identities of the divine beings that are calling to them.

This website seeks to help you identify which God / Goddess is in your life - either through a divine visitation or just in subtle but significant signs. There are links to excellent information on various pantheons and also a discussion forum.

I used to think that Jehovah was my friend, but then I realised it was all in my imagination

    In a word, yes!

And I do not refer to that old tribal God full of tricks, Jehovah. Hells bells, I 'm not so sure I could ever, would ever experience THAT god. Don't want to either, he was a mean motor scooter.

    LOL! Very funny!

Do you mind me asking which God you have had experience with? (if you know). What was it like?

I’ve experienced “something”, but don’t know if it’s god, goddess, the universe, my own energy flow or anything else.

I do know that when I prayed to the “Jehovah” deity I got nothing, zip, nada. Now, during very stressful times (my mother has had a stroke and a heart attack and is still hospitalized) I have had guidance/strength/enlightenment by meditating and calling out (internally) to the universe. At times I use the words “Mother Earth” and “Father Universe”, other times I direct my meditation to the “Universe” and also to “divine Universal energy”. And I’ve been answered, in small, pragmatic ways and also in large, life and death ways (concerning my mother). Is that experiencing God or Goddess? Or is it my own internal strength that I’m able to tap into because of meditation? I tend to believe it’s the former, but am not sure at this point.

Whatever it is, it’s working and I have no intention of stopping now!

"Imagination is more important than knowledge" - Albert Einstein

Hmm, I'm curious to know the context of that statement. I've heard it before, but something about this context makes me wonder. I suppose Einstein meant that imagination is more important than what is generally regarded as facts, mechanically logical reasoning that doesn't see beyond other possibilities than the ones right before you. But when I read this a thought that popped up for me is: "Is importance imagined or is it known?" (actually, it all depends on your point of view and what it means to you) Of course, I would say what's more important is the question of who or what is 'imagining', but that is probably getting a bit predictable in my posts.

Incidentally Hamas, I don't think that was really your imagination - that was just what you were told, we were all told that. If anything it only takes a dash of imagination to make a pre-defined character come to life, a big hint that it's just pre-existing programming is that it's all based on information you've previously assimilated. I mean that's not even creative in any sense, atleast when someone has some creative idea there's enough imagination to pull it together in a fresh and unique way that sort of makes sense. Has anyone ever said "I saw Jehovah's hand in my life before I became a witness"?? If anything they might say they felt God was directing their life or something, but can they honestly look back and say "Oh yes, I can see that it's clear from the information available to me at the time that it was specifically Jehovah." Memory being an unreliable thing it would be questionable if they even claimed that, but I've never heard of anyone even making such a claim. If anything they would only make the assumption 'because there is only one God, so therefore Jehovah was directing my life because that is my conceptual framework for God.' *(it wouldn't be that explicit of course, that would be a little too much honesty to maintain that way of thinking - hard to see through something and still go at it unconsciously)

While I was studying Judaism, I came across several sites that proprosed what the proper pronunciation of Jehovah is. So, being who I am, I tried out a couple of the pronunciations. Wow, did I get a surprise. I honestly believe that he answered.

It was an experience unlike any I ever had as a witness or by using any other God's name. It is still difficult to talk about it or explain what happened. Let's just say that the energy that answered my call was big and it was busy. But it did answer. I have decided that perhaps it is better sometimes not to bother the gods.

Every now and then, I still sense his presence. It's like he comes for a visit. Maybe next time, after I get to know him better and if I have the courage, I will ask him "whassup?"

I thought i did. After more thought, i came to the conclusion that it was my brother who died many yrs ago. We were quite close. It was an unforgetable experience. The more i meditate, the more it seems that a god, matching the standard concept is nonexistent. But there is something. Something like acsot was describing. It seems the taoists were into similar stuff.
