Yes. For many many years I enjoyed it immensely. I was sharing the "truth," trying to help people live better and happier lives. I had a deep personal interest in everyone with whom I studied, and they remained my friends for many years. Eventually our paths diverged, but I still think of them fondly.

I'd rather be damned for trying to do what I thought was the right thing, than for sitting on my ass and doing nothing to help others. My message has changed; the goal and my heart are the same.

i enjoyed it on really really rainy days, when it was pouring so hard that everyone felt justified in not getting out of the car. we just laughed and partied.

Not really. I can remember how relieved I was when the time was up and we could go home. I felt like I was fullfilling an obligation rather than doing something I liked. I had a lot of good times with the groups I was with but it wasn't because I was witnessing. I sure don't miss it in any way.

I hated all witnessing. The worst was drive-by witnessing. They actually used to drive by morning joggers, jump out of the car, and chase them with literature. They tried to get me to do that, but there was no way.

I hated it with every fiber of my being. I would pray I'd get sick Saturday morning so I wouldn't have to go. Not that it ever worked. Damn my efficient immune system!!

The best part about it was the relief you were finished for the day.

I knew several elders who hardly spent any time "cold calling" / knocking on doors. I did my fair share but I freely admitted I didn't like field service, found it hard and was never enthusiastic. I refused the position of being Field Service overseer when the CO offered it to me a year into being an elder (its a wonder I wasn't struck-off the elder list right then). When I had items on Field Service I tried to be sympathetic to those who struggled with the field ministry and I knew that the average Joe Witness didn't make mean average hours.

I hated it and I am glad it is history for me.

I never enjoyed the service parts - got really good at pretending to ring a door bell or knocking VERY QUIETLY. And it always made it better to end up with someone with a reputation for taking long coffee breaks, especially the ones willing to take a whole hour out of the morning and detour to the best places regardless of what territory they were in. I also perfected the " I just want to listen to everyone else do presentations today so I can learn more" line. Amazingly enough, I got away with it quite often.

I didn't enjoy it. I sometimes enjoyed the car groups, if I went out with my closest friend. She was my mum's age; I called her my second mum. She was so much more understanding than my own mentally unstable, abusive mother. During the summer, when I was pioneering, we went out every Wednesday morning. We worked for 2 hours, then had lunch, and then went to the pool together with her kids, who were a little younger than me. I enjoyed that.

But the actual door-to-door stuff? Yuck. I hardly ever did RV's; I sucked at them.
