mail call is definitely important, care packages are nice too but a lot of drill seargents will take away candy or only give them like a minute to eat as much as they can. Fun times, I'm sure he will like it. After about a week time flies and you realize its not that bad. its probably too late to tell him and i'm sure he has heard it a 1000 times but DONT volunteer for anything, oh and another thing his first phone call home will probably only be about 30 seconds long so make sure you have pen and paper ready waiting by the phone and dont feel bad if you get hung up on. he will be fine, i'm sure you will feel very proud when you go to his basic training graduation and get to see him all decked out in his service dress, the Marines definitely have the best uniforms and this is coming from an Air Force troop.

My daughter is pissed that I won't leave the phone but oh well I AM NOT MISSING HIS CALL and I don't know if they will let him try another number if it's busy etc.

Freedom thank you yes we will be there in September and I havent been to California since 1973 so I know nothing about the area.
