Do JW's eat meat that contains blood?

When I joined the JW's in 1987 a JW friend always bought a special brand of pepperoni when he made pizza, because he knew that brand was approved by elders and had no blood in it. Many witnesses I know seem to eat anything they want, and don't even look at the labels anymore.

Is it possible to eat red meat and eat no blood?

I know that the Jews salt and drain and salt and drain their meats, poultry, etc. before eating it to make sure that they don't eat any blood. I once asked a jw elder and his wife this exact question and the wife answered in a frightened tone and told me about the time she was cooking chicken and the pan filled with blood so she threw it all away and they went out to dinner.....??<<<<< I would have too, but not because I was scared but just grossed out. Jw's and the whole blood thing is such a hypocritical lie that I don't even think that they can understand their own teachings about fractions.

I'll give you a standard JW reply..

Moses was asked to drain the blood, it was a act of obedience to drain the blood but he would never get every drop out of it. Hence JWs do drain the blood in obedience but like Moses they wont get every drop out.

I remember back in 1987 when I started how zealous the witnesses were in my congregation. They ate pizza at certain restaurants that they knew used a certain brand of pepperoni. They avoided other pizzerias that they weren't sure of. The same witnesses today don't even look at that. You'll find them in any restaurant eating just about anything. Times changed...

DJ, Brummie and Frogit are right on the mark. It isn't possible to get all the blood out of a piece of meat unless you go the extreme orthodox Jewish Kosher route - and I'll bet even THAT leaves a few blood cells in there, and ghod knows what unapproved "blood fractions" are in there too.

The JWs are only concerned with making what they consider to be a reasonable attempt to avoid blood. If the animal was bled when it was killed, case closed. I'd be willing to bet a nickle right now that Sister Hysterical wanted an evening out of the darn kitchen more than she was scared of the denaturing albumin that seeped out of the chicken while it cooked.

In the late 60s - early 70s there was a lot of Dub hysteria about "blood" in chocolate candy bars. The candy listed lecithin as an ingredient, and lecithn is found in the blood, therefore, the candy HAD TO have blood in it.

A primary source of lecithin is soybeans, but why let the facts interfere with a good fit?

Wait a minute - SALT is also found in blood - therefore... !!!

Hi JH; they say that they try not to eat it in my old cong.- but when I questioned if meat could ever be bled properly they answered as Brummie has already said. They think that all uk meat is bled as well as possible; but that's not actually true.I think they just like to believe that so they don't all have to turn veggie. I have friends who shoot and i'm always being given pheasant; they did'nt like that and told me I should'nt eat it. But when your seperating blood fractions and accaoting them- what's a little blood in your chicken?!

Years ago, I can remember my mom reading the labels on dogfood, because we couldn't have our dog eating anything with blood in it. I remember a "question from the readers" regarding medical treatment with leeches. It said in essence that it would not be ok for a Christian to be treated with leeches (used in some countries for cleaning seriously infected areas of the body) because it would encourage the leech to drink blood. Now if it was against God's law to eat blood, why did God design certain animals such as dogs and leeches to eat it in the wild?

Now if it was against God's law to eat blood,
