    @ Heaven:

“This knowledge is of divine origin; and it is from the Bible of the creation that man has learned it, and not from the stupid Bible of the church, that teaches man nothing.*

*The Bible-makers have undertaken to give us, in the first chapter of Genesis, an account of the creation; and in doing this they have demonstrated nothing but their ignorance…

Start studying the bible from a purely academic stance from scholars like Daniel B Wallace and Michael S Heiser. Something you would actually found taught in a school of Christian theology in a secular university. Try and understand the new testament though first century Jewish eyes. I think you would be surprised how interesting it all is and also how incredibly stupid WTS theology is.

Also don't confuse ex-witness as ex Christians either. They were trying to disprove the bible as JWs and really aren't that far removed as ex Jws, complete with the hated filled arrogance they had as JWs.

I used to believe in the bible even after I left the witnesses, but if you research how we actually got the bible we have today you will see it's a miss-mash of books chosen by the Catholic Church that fit nicely together. Lots of other books were kept out.

Secondly, even if Jesus did do/say all those things - he didn't start a religion. He gave people a method to live their lives. And only one commandment: LOVE.

    We can all do that.

The reason I ask is because I still believe the bible is the Word of God

    Why?

You are the "perfect" young person for religion hunting: Asking your question "New religion where to look?" implies there is an answer that will point you towards the "right" one.

Next you will ask, "What is the purpose of life?", then "Why does God Allow suffering?" and then "Who are preaching the good news of the kingdom in this time of the end?" and on and on and on. Yawn and double yawn.

These lame cookie-cutter questions force predictable answers that take you right back where you started from: The playschool of Christianity.

Meanwhile, you ignore a raft of solid research that declares the very foundation of Christianity itself as a collection of fables upon which a myriad "true" religious groups is based.

I would like to say that Jesus gave only one commandment to love, but he also exerted undue influence on his followers by saying things like, "Leave the dead to bury the dead." Jesus was a cult leader, and we're free to take brotherly love and the golden rule, but let's not look at what he said through a pinhole.
