Today I dined and wined with Mr. and Mrs. Ozzie. I had a marvelous time. Both are wonderful people, and I have enjoyed myself immensely with them. The wine of the month [approved by Ozzie himself] is the: Capez-Vale 1999 Shiraz from Western Australia. "Black Pepper"characters softened with a generous spicy nutmeg mid palate. It was absolutely gorgeous. And so were the little sandwiches and scones we had for dinner, together with coffee for Ozzie and me, and Mrs. Ozzie enjoyed a "treasure tea". And yes, with that we sipped our Shiraz. I had a great time, dear Ozzies, it was fabulous meeting you guys.

    Thanks Viv,

I hear the Aussies are gaining quite the reputation for good wines !

Still awaiting the arrival in my neck of the woods. Hopefully soon !

Why thank you very much for the recommendation. My hubby Makena has quite a wine cellar but we mostly know California and Washington wines. I am never satisfied with American Syrah's, so I appreciate your input on Auzzie wines!

This should be a regular topic, are there enough wine lovers to keep it going? We are visiting Napa/Sonoma in September, if there is anything fantastic we will report back.

One funny wine story, there was a JW in California that did infomercials on buying foreclosure properties and making $$. Well, our last trip to Napa there is a new winery by the same name. Turns out to be the same guy. We asked the employee that helped us if the winery was owned by a JW. He said "yeah, but I'm a Methodist, he still lets me work here" with a smirk on his face. I won't advertise the name, but darn it was excellent wine.

    Fun story Sabine.

I have to say, I was a bit surprised at the wine yesterday ... it was really good. I am more used to the Cabernet wines, but this Shiraz was very smooth and softer on the tongue, from what I am used too.

*No wine knower here, btw, just know what I like *

Has the great District Overbeer converted to the twisted philosophies of the Wine-sect?

Is this what is known as "spreading the good news" worldwide?

Fabulous time, Viv, really awesome (as you like to say)

    Cheers, Ozzie

Being in Hotel New York (in Rotterdam) early at day ? don't think so.
She is only doing the Pizza Hut when she has made a (big) offer to Bacchus.
This morning she called me that she bought lots of drinks with a high alcohol percentage : having a party this evening.
Slovenia is in for a new experience.

NO!!!! Aussie wine is absolute rubbish. If you find any in your local area buy it immediately and send it back to Aus. Better still, send it back to me so I can dispose of it properly. I can handle about 1 and a half bottles per day, but have a few freinds that will help me empty the rest. It should never have left the country! Whatever you do, DO NOT TASTE IT! It will ruin your palet, stunt your growth, scare children and result in your IMMEDIATE d/s from this forum...........
