I am presently reading this book and so far have read only 100 pages and it boggles my mind !!

Has anybody on the board read it ? If so I would like to hear your views on it,if not now after I have finished reading it myself LOL

I`m surprised it hasn`t been made into a movie ,its almost unbelievable to be true but obviously it is.

For those not familiar with the book just a brief outline.

" In the 1920`s the richest people per capita in the world were the members of the Osage Indian nation in Oklahoma. After oil was discovered beneath their land ,they rode in chauffeured automobiles, built mansions and sent their children to study in Europe.

Then one by one the Osage began to be killed off" " a true life murder story which became one of the FBI`s first major homicide investigations".

Having finished reading this book ,the old saying "truth is stranger than fiction" certainly rings true .It almost defies belief that such crimes could be committed against so many victims for so long a time and covered up by so many prominent people in a civilized society in Oklahoma America during the 1920`s against the Osage Indian people.

It also gives insight into the early years of the FBI and J.E.Hoover

This true story would make an excellent series for such as Neflix or Hulu or Foxtel or some other network it certainly is too big to be made into just a film to do it justice .

I highly recommend you read it .

Has anybody ever read this book ?

Has there ever been a movie or TV show about it ?

I think it would make a great series for Netflix , Stan , or Fox to make .

I have been reading this book as well; I am 12% (1/8) Native American (great-grandmother 100%). I saw a history news item about this event and have been reading the true history of the killings. In WI, I have been researching the Blackhawk Wars, the killing site is very near where I live. It lead me to the Osage story.

There was a movie some years ago called The FBI story with Jimmy Stewart. A part of that movie was the account of the Osage Tribe and what happen to them in the early 1920's. Good movie. I've had some dealings with the tribe. Still a very rich Indian tribe.
