My case is embarrassing.
Born in. Baptized at 14. DF'd at 19.
Stayed out for 15 years trying to kill myself with chemicals but always believed. (Never occurred to me to research)
Spent 5 years trying to return. Reinstated for 2 years, decided it was a cult cult and DF'ed.
6 years out now.
I consider the 44 years from birth to DF the years wasted.

Birth to 45 last 24 years of freedom
I got myself in at about 14 years of age and got df'd at 21. That's 8 years in total but they were the most formidable ones of my life.

Not all of it was wasted. Made some great friends, gained lots of practical experience in public speaking and dealing with different personality types etc...

Perhaps, no time is ever wasted...just spent differently from, if given the choice.
time was not wasted, but years wasted away intellectually: 60 and counting, since we can not really get into the nitty gritty to do combat with the "best " of what the GB-wt-fd&s, "glorious ones" have to offer,--, without consequences.
