It all started on Friday. I had sushi for lunch with some friends from work and then went to our MiniApostafest Friday night and had more sushi. Felt a little queasy but I figured it was all the sake bombs I'd had (one at lunch, two at dinner, plus a gin & tonic and glass of wine). Saturday we went to a JW wedding (a queasy experience in itself) that was OUTSIDE at 3:00 p.m. (all Texans reading this will understand that means blindingly HOT). The reception was outside too, complete with flies. Still felt a little "off" but figured it was either the food, the company, or stuffed up sinuses. By Sunday afternoon I was really feeling bad, and Mt. Vesuvius starting erupting about 5:00 p.m. and continued through the night and into Monday.
It is most unfortunate that the only time I have a flat stomach anymore is after I've thrown up for two days.
Well, I went to the doctor yesterday and he prescribed a bunch of stuff and told me to take a few days off from work and stay in bed. Not hard to do -- I'm shaking still as I'm sitting at the computer and will crawl back to bed in a minute. This is NASTY!!! I still have a fever and feel pretty weak, but food is staying down, finally. The doctor's office asked me if I'd been overseas lately or been around anyone who has -- I guess SARS is on everybody's mind these days. And because I had a knee jerk reaction when the doctor poked me in one particular spot I'm having an abdominal sonogram tomorrow to check out my gall bladder. Oh well . . . .
That's it. No point to this thread. I'm just whining . . . .
Hi (((Cruzanheart)))...I hear you on the Sushi! I love it, but the first time I had it....UGH ;) I felt so stinken sick I didn't know what to do with myself. Maybe it wasn't fresh? That is what happend with my first experience.
Cruzan: Sorry your sick. Was the food at the wedding served outside? Hmm sounds like you could have been a little ill and whatever you consumed at the wedding did it for you.
Thunder got some bad Taco Bell once OH MYhe had the worst food poisoning he needed to go to the hospital but wouldn't. Drink some Ginger Ale when you can hold something down.(((((HUGGGGGGGZZZZZZ)))))
I am so sorry you're feeling down. I rarely get sick, but when I do I do it like you...I'm down for awhile. I know this sounds corny, but when I've been queasy (symptom of my major monthly migraines) I always drink iced tea and eat pringles. Don't know why, but they help me keep food down.
if you can stomach it---drink some Gatorade with a dash of crystal vitamin C thrown in. If the gall bladder acts up---nausea again and pain in the right upper quadrant of the back...then leave out the vitamin C and stick with straight Gatorade. If it is food poisoning it will flush out with proper fluid and electrolyte support. Vitamin C will help keep the liver clean from any other poisons or viruses if you can keep it down---too much Vit C will also CAUSE diarrhea--so don't overdo it.
Billygoat--the tea and pringles makes sense from an electrolyte standpoint too.
