JW's love the way it makes them fell more legitimate, when they hear of someone famous "coming into the truth".
When I got baptized at the International Assembly in Vancouver Canada in 1974 when I was 17, there was a rumor flying around that Glen was there and was going to be baptized. People had their songbooks in hand and were looking for him to autograph them. They had to give a special talk about the evils of "idolatry".

I cannot listen to his reading of "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" without tearing. The ache in his beautiful voice is so palpable. 💝💖🌺

I love Witchita Lineman. That song is in a whole complete music category of it's own. "And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time....

When I hear Wichita Lineman I tear up thinking of the long drive across the desert to go visit my big brother in Federal prison. This song was famous and played on the radio constantly. We only had a short one or two hour visit with him. It was cruel to see him in there with other young men we grew up with in our circuit.
I can only listen to this song for a few seconds and then the pain is too great.

Glen certainly conveyed an aching sadness and longing in his songs - especially those penned by Jim Webb. Add our own memories to the times we listened to his music and the sadness can at times be too much to bear.
