Below is a message I sent to a witness in Chile. I have included it in its raw form with spelling mistakes included.
I was deep in thought this evening so I thought I would ask you directly to get your honest opinion on it, and i guess if you block me then that's ok.
Seriously were you totally unaware that the chilean flag is placed inside the kingdom halls to avoid having to pay a fine during Fiestas patrias celebrations (September 18-19). I mean the internet is just full of videos and pictures of kingdom halls flying the flag it would be a matter of ignorance to say they don't. What you have to remember here is very few witnesses know about this outside of chile, and i think many would be shocked if they did. Don't you think this is a bit of a double standard. I mean sure it was written in a bethel letter that they were just putting a flag up and as long as there was no ceremony behind it then they saw no problem with it. Well if that be true then it would be ok to to have a party and give presents on someone's birthday/Christmas, just as long that there is no celebration behind it because in reality I was just giving a present no observing the celebration. I hope you get my point. You could perhaps also appreciate how those witnesses back in the 1950s who were getting beaten up and been seriously mistreated because the would salute the flag would feel if they saw the saw the flag been flown outside the kingdom hall. It would be particularly insulting and even more so if they knew the main reason was just to get out of paying a fine. Anyway those were my thoughts.
I just want your honest opinion that's all I ask. BTW I not trying to diminish your belief in God. I'm just trying to get a reasonable answer to what I consider to be something that goes totally against what I was taught as a JW.
