Oh the sexy shoes I used to wear! You couldn't tell me I would regret it. I didn't want to hear it. Twenty plus years later I am having so much trouble with my poor feet. Oh how I regret it!!!

No very high heels makes sense, if only because of the problems they make. They are miserable to walk in, they create stability issues (especially on stairs and other uneven surfaces), and they can damage carpets. Mostly, they are a tripping hazard and they are bad for the feet. Wearing more modest heels with broader points, or flat shoes, makes more sense because they are safer, more comfortable, and are better for the feet.
The other rules make no sense. In hot weather, nylon stockings are miserable. And in bitter cold weather, having nylon stockings under a dress provides no protection against frostbite or other cold weather problems. As for cosmetics, some of them can create health issues because they are toxic, but otherwise there is no use for rules against using them. Just good old-fashioned common sense--such as what we had for thousands of years before Judaism, and later Christi-SCAM-ity and islam, infested people's brains.

APOSNT - thx/appreciate knowing what FOH stands for. I couldn't figure it out. The tall stilettos are still hot - and the idea of no red shoes nor makeup is over the top. He was competing with the Pentecostals. Some of these WT men must be on the wrong medication but it's their job to tell the company sales force how to dress when attending sales meetings and on the job (in service). They definitely demand a conservative, business, image.
Believe it or not out in the wild wild west it's very conservative dress -- they've always lectured the no short skirt rule -- if one isn't short it was hard for the gals to find appropriate lengths if mini/shorter skirt lengths were the trend. One CO only liked squash heels (today they're referred to as "kitten" about a 1" heel - why bother but they are practical) and heard other JWs preaching no long nails but later they were all running for sport/mid length acrylic french nails. Boots were a no-no, also, and what I was wearing first time I encountered the old goat. He was getting out of his car same time I was and stood and glared (I wasn't up to speed on his rules and regs then or ever -- I couldn't believe). My entire body was covered conservatively wearing a suit and boots hitting under the knee. I don't think boots with the medium sz heels were allowed, either. What a bunch of doofuses.
