Change in WT Stance on Retirement? A qualified answer?

I was reading the March 2025 WT today, and I notice this: "March 2025 p. 29 Jehovah’s Hand is Not Too Short p.29-31 (Retirement, but qualified statement) (Notice , it is not wrong, BUT, in the end we must rely on their god. Retirement is alluded to as "making the quest for material things the focus of our life." Are we confident that their god will provide (why have retirement then?) "We do our best to plan for our future needs, and if unexpected events befall us, we trust in Jehovah’s support." "No matter what happens, though, let us be determined to trust that Jehovah will use his power to provide for us materially."...the whole info here

"Our trust in Jehovah’s hand could also be tested as we consider what our situation might be like when we grow older. The Bible encourages us to work hard so that we can care for our future material needs. (Prov. 6:6-11)) It is reasonable, as our means allow, to set something aside for the future. Money does provide a measure of protection. (Eccl. 7:12)) However, we should avoid making the quest for material things the focus of our life.

    14. Why should we consider Hebrews 13:5 when planning for our future financial needs?

14 Jesus illustrated the foolishness of storing up money without being “rich toward God.” (Luke 12:16-21)) No one knows what tomorrow will bring. (Prov. 23:4,5, Jas. 4:12-15)) We face a particular challenge as followers of Christ. Jesus said that we must be ready to “give up” all our belongings to be his disciples. (Luke 14:33) What has helped them to do that? They have absolute confidence in Jehovah’s promise: “I will never leave you, and I will never abandon you.” (Read Hebrews 13:5.) We do our best to plan for our future needs, and if unexpected events befall us, we trust in Jehovah’s support.

Jehovah’s loyal servants can count on his ability and his desire to satisfy their material needs. As we approach the end of this system of things, we can expect our confidence in Jehovah to be tested. No matter what happens, though, let us be determined to trust that Jehovah will use his power to provide for us materially."

    BLONDIE:

It makes me ill to read the JW religion’s nonsense.. Even the Bible promotes saving and uses the example of the lowly ant in Proverbs.

Also, how could someone give charity unless they had a store saved up? The Witness religion ignores Bible wisdom with its teachings against working and saving.. Quite frankly, they are full of it in my book with their saying that “Jehovah will provide” as though someone could literally be a bum and pennies will fall from heaven.. Too many Witnesses took this bad advice.

As for the religion giving the impression they are changing their stand? It’s superficial so the world thinks they aren’t what they really are.

But I know better as somebody who was treated like I had a disease years ago because I had a full-time job. Today I am grateful it worked out the way it did.. I wouldn’t trade places with pioneers who scoffed at me back then and who got invited to special dinners and told how ‘spiritual’ they were. 🙄 That is worthless and not paying the bills in 2025!

LHG, I agree with you, this is the WTS trying to show they don't prevent members from preparing for retirement after all, 1) the end is so very close, very soon now 2) preparing for retirement shows you don't trust in their god. Two-faced once again. (I'm giving you 100 likes)

maybe they want people to save up so they can go after their retirement funds.

The higher-ups at WT HQ don't have to worry about retirement like all of the SUCKERS who've bought into their end-times nonsense and "Wait on Jehovah" and "Jehovah Provides!" nonsense. Nope! See, they've got a brand new retirement community up at Fishkill where they retire to, staffed by volunteer Bethelites who wait on them and clean their homes, etc. Hell, I've just found out that they have different activity days/nights, and even have afternoon cocktails and mixers! (as is the Bethel way!)

So while the rank-n-file sheeple are left out in the cold, hoping their Congregation (lol, yeah right!) or worldly non-JW relatives will take care of them, the ELITE up at WT HQ get to retire on the Sheeple's dime at Fishkill. All expenses paid, with a final trip to the "Launch Pad" as a final farewell. Ahhhhh.......it's good to be the KINGS, aye? That's not even mentioning the types like Lett, Morris, and Jolene who had all kinds of business dealings off on the side making MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, while the rest of the pauper Bethelites were forced to sign a "vow of poverty" upon entering Bethel service, and were even forbidden from holding "G-Jobs" to make some extra bucks to be able to buy a decent meal or not have to cloth themselves from the second hand donation box.

Fuck this money-grubbing cult. The more I find out about it, the angrier I get at how big and far reaching the con is.

Retirement is not simply a quest for material things, nor should we depend on that hyper-abomination that only wants us as miserable as possible. There comes a time when you are simply not able to work as you used to, and having savings will help you at that time. Those in their 50s and 60s probably notice that they lack the speed and stamina they had in their 20s and early 30s. And it is only going to get worse from here. Simply a part of aging, plus all the nutrient deficiencies and poisons in our foods and medicines.

It is up to you how you wish to make that saving. There are traditional IRA's and 401K's. People can and do invest in stocks and bonds. You can also start stacking gold and silver (or other precious metals, if you have serious money to invest or wish to take a bit of risk). Put a bit aside into these things as you can afford to. But. do not take investment advice from people that want to grab children's ice cream money--that $2.50 or $3.00 you spend on a single silver dime could have been put into some billionaire's pocket instead, in the name of joke-hova (who is laughing at those who are not doing anything to invest in their future despite having the means to do so).

If the elders can convince them to hand over their retirement funds. I wouldn't be surprised if some deceived jws put the Watchtower Society as a beneficiary of their retirement (not SS) to them. I have the option of choosing who gets my retirement after I die. I wouldn't give them a red cent (which are going by the wayside anyway) Towards the end of the year November or December the WTS has suggestions as to donations "Bank Accounts: Bank accounts, certificates of deposit, or individual retirement accounts may be placed in trust for or made payable on death to Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania, in accord with local bank requirements."

    WING COMMANDER:

I didn’t know all the details of the JW religion’s retirement community (for the higher ups). But, I certainly can’t say I am surprised. They have foolish people enabling them while they live like kings.👎

It is too bad about the millions of rank & file Witnesses everywhere who were conned and duped into not working decent jobs and careers and not providing for any sort of retirement for themselves. Even though this is a shame, I personally feel no pity for them because they all knocked me years ago for working.. What am I expected to say??

These broke JWs don’t seem to want to talk about how the religion misled them and should be helping them but isn’t… All in all, I am glad to no longer be around any of this.. I wouldn’t set foot in a KH again.
