December 28, 2016 TO ALL CONGREGATIONS Re: One Study Edition of The Watchtower in Languages Other Than English

    Dear Brothers:

For several years, the simplified edition of The Watchtower has been produced in French,

Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. The Governing Body has decided that only one study edition will

be translated into these languages. Therefore, the last simplified edition in French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish will be the issue of May 2017. In the future, simpler language will be used in the

    study edition of The Watchtower.

We send our warm Christian love.

    Your brothers,

    LOL.

    The grand dumbing-down continues.

By 2030, the Watchtower will consist entirely of stick-figure drawings and two-word captions.

    "preach....good!" "gays....bad!" "give....money!" "obey....us!"

I wonder if this is because of the translators having had the best education ever?

Translation: "F**k the foreign languages. It's too much trouble. We're a Western religion. English or nothin'."

Ten bucks says they've laid off so many Bethelites, their aren't enough translators left to handle the workload. :smirk:

"...In the future, simpler language will be used in the study edition of The Watchtower..."

    Look, Caleb, look.

    See Sophia preach.

    Preach, Sophia, preach.

    No more ice cream.

    Good one Vidiot!

Seems like the Governing Body (tm) has just rediscovered the Dick and Jane series of books from their childhood.

Doo what !!! How can they make it simpler than it is already now? If they simplify any further it will be nursery book tales. What an insult to the Word of God!

The older dubs of my family already bemoan the simplicity of the literature these days. When we were young, the WT occasionally used words we did not know. What did we do ? we looked them up , We were encouraged to own a decent dictionary . If need be, the conductor might explain a term. (especially those pesky Americanisms)

My point was that being "in the truth" as we called it was a learning experience . I got good grades at school for English partly because I was reading deeper stuff. I do not believe that people today are any less intelligent , they are just not taught .... and the WTS is pandering to modernity and laziness

I wish they would have a Jive talking version of the WT.

w12 12/15 p. 29 The Simplified Watchtower—Why Introduced? "For decades, men and women around the globe have appreciated and benefited from the Bible-based information published in the pages of The Watchtower. In July 2011, the first issue of a simplified study edition of this magazine was published in the English language. That issue explained: "This new edition will be tried for one year, and if it is helpful, it will continue to be printed." Now, it is a pleasure to announce that we have decided to continue to publish it. Moreover, in time a simplified edition in French, Portuguese, and Spanish will be available......It is filling a need and will continue to be published....."
