I'm glad you got the joke, Spanner. I wondered at first. It was supposed to be a double-entendre.

Well you can tell from my handle that I do believe in some common shared traits that the people in different signs seem to share. However as to the planets I have to really wonder, when was netpune and pluto discovered anyway? If more planets are found will they be included? And lastly, just who is making it all up, who are the master astrolagers that make these claims? Who is writing the rules? As far a gravity is concerned, isn't the moon the most noticable field? The planet pluto must have such a small field that it couldn't even be measured or felt from the earth.
As a Libra, I have had my best relationships with Sagitarius women, I don't really know if this is just coincidence or something I can really count on. My most intense relationships have been with other Libras. It all seems very generally accurate, but I have never had a really reputable chart done on me personally and don't see the need to spend good money on this. I remember when everyone used to chart thier biorythms, you could get a PC program to chart them for you. Is there a PC program for charting your astrology charts? One could get a much quicker feel for things if it was faster to see the results. Do astrologers also inject thier own personal wisdom on things? If you had 3 people chart you, would the results be the same or different?
Think I will be watching for the microsoft compatible program!
Um, well Prisca, astrology has nothing whatever to do with "stars" anyway. Astrology claims to measure your orientation to certain cosmic, astral, spiritual, and other energies at the time of your birth as indicated by your relation to the planets at that time.
And just as a clock does not create time, but only measures it - astrology does not create anything in you either but only measures your orientation to the above named energies and to their relative strengths at the moment of your birth.
Having said that, I must also say that I'm with Alan in recognizing astrology for the steaming pile that it is. I have drunk that cup to the dregs and must say that it leaves me intellectually empty. I have used it as an ice breaker and conversation maker at various parties in my long and checkered relationship with woman to good, even great effect. But that's as much good as I've ever gotten out of it. Which, when you think of other approaches and come-ons, isn't too bad at all. But when I want to really know the future, I wait for it to arrive.

The writer Douglas Adams said that astrology was like dropping a handful of graphite dust onto a piece of paper to discern its wrinkles and shape, and whether anything was written on the piece before it.
The random rules and presumptions of astrology can actually be insightful into a person's personality - not because of any literal connection to the stars, but because the way the person reacts to those rules tells you a lot about them. Also, you learn an awful lot about the astrologer. If he is obsessed with golden showers, then guess what will keep popping up into your horoscope?
Fortune telling is a head game that has been played with success for thousands of years. Just to dismiss it because it has no real connection to the rules it claims to play by is childish, like abandoning the idea of money because you found out it is just paper.
CZAR
Czar,
I agree to a point. I think astrology is a form of subconscious introspection because people really read themselves (same with Tarot cards and stuff). I think its value is limited in the modern era, though, for a couple reasons. First, because the practicioners rarely know that that is what they are doing, and second, because today we have better, more direct ways of figuring out whats in someone's head (psychology).
It is useful for getting girls, though!

Is the kind of girl who's into astrology worth "getting"?
Depends on what you mean by "get", Stephanus.

Hi everyone. I'd like to offer my opinion, if I might.
I believe that astrology is a psychological tool.
I also believe that it's sort of like a 'cosmic weather report'. It can give a person the general trends/vibrations of the Universe, but it's still up to the individual to decide whether to 'take an umbrella' or 'just stay home', as it were.
Still, I never really felt like my Birth Sign... although, I was almost born a month earlier (the doc gave my mom a drug to stop the labor). Maybe that had something to do with it. I was a very big baby!
Anyway, has anyone heard of Esoteric Astrology??? It's different than regular astrology. In Eso. Ast. the signs have different planetary rulers and it's more connected to the vibrations of the planets than the mythological significance attached to them of the regular/western/babylonian system.
I'd love to talk about it if anyone's interested.
I'm interested in the vibrations of planets. What frequency does uranus vibrate at?
