There are two reasons for this article I wager.

One is the pay, pay, pay your pledges as pointed out.

The other is a guilt trip about field ministry, meetings, talks etc. For those teetering on reducing their effort, if they are still mentally in enough then this could be enough for them to give themselves a kick up arse and get back to doing more.

Why would anyone vow to slaughter another human being, as in the case of vowing to sacrifice the first person that came out of the temple? If joke-hova was just, making such a vow would have been offensive and would carry the obligation to break said vow. Ditto a vow made when you are tricked into doing something that is intended to enslave the whole human race. You vowed to serve joke-hova forever, only to learn that thing was going to enslave us all into damnation. It is then immoral to keep such vow.

As for marriage vows, why are they under such pressure to make vows to potentially bad marriages without even getting to try them out? You never know if you are compatible with your partner until after the door out is slammed shut. This often happens when people cross culture or ethnic lines without understanding what they are getting into, then find out they are not compatible after all. It is made worse when the husband is forced to waste all the money on Worldwide Damnation Fund and cut back on work to pious-sneer. No chance to try, no chance to get out if you get stung. And for those who are gay or bisexual, no chance to even get in at all. Some people are naturally polygamous, and this is also banned (including those bisexual people that will do either or both sexes). Instead, they are stuck in something that forces them to be something they are not.

I think the whole LIE-ble has to go. That book is nothing but a curse on humanity intended to lead us all to full communism. Worse than Russia. More like the Dark Ages, but this time with microchip enforced compliance so there can be no Renaissance.

I guess that means all other JW's are not special and are just part timers.

Vows are made voluntarily, of one’s own free will. Nevertheless, they are sacred and binding in God’s eyes because they carry the force of an oath

OK, so what about this promise that was made every month for 13 years?

Awake 1982 - 1995 (Box inside front cover, printed in every magazine)
"Most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new order before the generation that saw the events of 1914 C.E. passes away.":

The above made me laugh... I agree with everything you said and think the influence of the Bible will soon wane to the level that the Greek Mythologies have over us.

I would bet my left testicle ,what you vow you pay will come in form of a regular electronic payment system introduced so the poor brothers stay poor and the GB continue to eat eye fillet steak.

I thought paragraph 11 was interesting ... see the bit I have put in bold? An absolute lie if you got baptised before 1985 when the question was "adjusted" to include "God's spirit-directed organization"

    11. What happened on your baptism day?

11 Have you dedicated your life to Jehovah and symbolized your dedication by water baptism? If so, that is wonderful! Recall that on your baptism day, before eyewitnesses, you were asked whether you had dedicated yourself to Jehovah and understood that “your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with God’s spirit-directed organization.” Your affirmative answers served as a public declaration of your unreserved dedication and showed that you were qualified for baptism as an ordained minister of Jehovah. You must have made Jehovah very happy
