    • My sister stated that at an April Assembly she visited, they stated the money they were asking for included helping those in foreign lands building KH's and AH's.

I would like comments please on the lack of transparency regarding funds collected at circuit assemblies. A elder who I worked for said he doesn't go to the lunch time elders meeting as they aren't given full details either and just a waste of time.

Do they have a budget that is set. I mean at last weekends one day assembly on "being bold " They were saying it will cost £6000 and so keep giving. Work that out if there are 2 assemblies a weekend. The assembly hall is their own.

    That's actually a good point.

At what point did the KH they're planning to sell become "undedicated" to Jehovah?

Is there a special ceremony to undedicate a building? Maybe you play a Kingdom Melody backwards? Have a sister give a talk from the platform? Read from the Book of Mormon?

I think it becomes undedicated when an apostate enters the front door, or maybe when a sister wearing pants enters the building?

Our hall is a bit run down and has structural issues like leaks. Having said that the congregations do work hard at keeping it as best they can.

The area it is in is a bit “wrong side of the tracks”, not the best. It is being transformed though with large demolitions and new office blocks being built. Gentrification I think is the term. It’s a country with sky high land prices so while the building is not worth much the land is worth a fortune I would say.

My very first bible study I was told the Kingdom Hall would give up their plot of land but in return get a floor in a swish new office building. Sounds a fair trade to me!

Only last week I learned the local congregations do not own the building at all?? All negotiations and valuation and legal work is done by the local Bethal. This was explained to me as a good thing hmmmmm

The members kept this building going for decades, paid all the running costs and do not even hold the deeds? Bizarre,

That's the way non-profits work. Only the parent non-profit can make buys and sells for the branch non-profits. But even they don't OWN the non-profit or its funds (at least in the US). If the parent non-profit is disbanded, their money must be assigned to a non-profit of their choice.

Sounds like the "being bold" one-day assemblies are quite lucrative.
