“The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible.
They had to say that or they would have stepped in a huge, stinking, steaming pile of. . .well you know.
Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction...
Notice, there is zero admission of error. They key word in this statement is CAN, not does. Can only denotes the possibility, not the certainty.
Of course, Jesus did not tell us that his faithful slave would produce perfect spiritual food."
He shouldn't have had to say so. If Jesus is perfect, and if Jesus provides the food initially, then logically the food is perfect and the governing body as merely a middleman would provide what Jesus did. However if they err or if the food isn't perfect then either of only two options present themselves. Either Jesus and the food he initially provides are imperfect, or the middleman is not providing the food they are tasked with providing.
In any case the governing body is engaging in a blatant case of CYA and is not generating any trust in anyone able to read between the lines.
"do not put your trust in mortal man who cannot save" Psalm 146
I've never been close enough to one of them to feel if they are human, but I am pretty sure from the broadcast that they fit the human profile.
NO , these men should not be trusted.
The problem with believing that God especially picked them in 1918 as regular readers of this website know is that in 1918 they were still advocating prophecies about 1874 all of which had failed.
The two issues I never could make sense of were 1. Who appointed these men to the GB? Answer: their cronies; and 2. How did Jehovah/Jesus talk to them? Answer: He didn't. They discussed a topic and if they had a majority agreement they felt that HS was leading them to the right decision.
In other words, no different from a non-religious board of directors reaching a decision on what direction their business should go.
We often overlook the second part of their descriptive title - DISCREET.
Are they? I see no evidence of discretion in most of their actions. I also don't see maturity, something I would expect from an appointed representative of the true God.
Good point about whether the mandate was passed on....even assuming they were right about 1919, where does it state in the Bible that such an appointment was "hereditary" to future directors of the board (which is what they were).
In light of Psalm 146:3 (NKJV) which says "Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help", please consider the following questions.
Should Christians put their trust in the Apostle Paul and in what he wrote in his letters which are included in the NT? Should Christians put their trust in the Letter called Hebrews and in the human who wrote it down? Should Christians put their trust in those NT letters which self identify as being written by the Apostle Paul but which modern NT critical scholars say are written under a false name, and should Christians put their trust in the person or persons who wrote those letters? Should Christians put their trust in the NT letters attributed to John and Peter and should Christians put their trust in the humans who those letters.? Should Christians put their trust in the John who is attributed as writing down the NT book called Revelation? Should Christians put their trust in what humans wrote down in the books making up the Hebrew-Aramaic scriptures (OT), and should they trust those humans wrote down those books?. What about those books called Apocryphal?
Should Christians put their trust in the miracle claims written down in the Bible (OT and NT) by humans?
What the GB members of JW`s beleived in 1918-19 and which they claim was approved by Jehovah God and Christ Jesus ,today there is virtually nothing they taught and preached back then that is beleived ,taught or preached today .
So why would they have been approved of back then ? if nothing taught back then is beleived today ?.......Simply stated they couldn`t have been selected by GOD & Jesus.
They are delusional .
How can you be saved if you don't have complete trust God's handpicked men?
"Since Jehovah God and Jesus Christ completely trust the faithful and discreet slave, should we not do the same?" Watchtower 2009 Feb 15 p.27
The "Watchtower 2022 Feb p.4 States ---The plain truth is that we cannot say that we trust in Jehovah if we do not trust in his earthly representatives - those whom Jehovah trusts. Today Jehovah leads the earthly part of his organization by means of "the faithful and discreet slave.""
The Governing Body also claims that because Jesus has appointed them, they must therefore be trustworthy.
"There are many reasons to have complete trust in the slave class. First and foremost, Jesus has appointed them over all his precious "belongings." This is a clear indication that he has complete trust in them." Organized to Do Jehovah's Will (2005) p.18

Psa 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
Psa 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
