We will never know, they are to far away to investigate. Would it really change anything as far as our life is concerned, other than mentally? It is an interesting subject to ponder anyway.

Even if there is, we may or may not recognize it as such.

Also, one has to look at the bigger picture.

If an extraterrestrial intelligence found us, and they were more advanced than us, they would be led to conclude that our Gods are not as good as theirs, i.e. theirs is the chosen planet, not ours, and that therefore, we do not have souls.

Quite simple, really, when you put yourself on the other side of the looking glass...

Of course. The Universe of Universes teems with life in forms beyond our imagination. Unfortunately, the fact of our spiritual isolation we cannot observe nor contact any of this life, even when they are here as students observing life as it is lived on a world segregated for failure on the part of it cosmic, spiritual supervisors (so this "apple" world will not cause all the rest of the "apples" in this particular local universe to go bad. However, it is nice to know that it was not WE who caused the divine plan to be abandoned here, it was the spiritual administrators of this planet - Adam and Eve.

As soon as our problems of a spiritual nature are worked out on earth, the isolation order will be lifted and we'll enjoy social intercourse with other races of advancing races from space who are struggling toward the attainment of diety just like us.

    Never give up.

many scientists are convinced that life exists on other planets. but since we do not know the probability of life forming on our or any other planet i would say both scenarios are possible. one thing is clear - within the next 50 light years we seem to be the only species using electromagnetic waves to communicate right now

if an alien civilization would be discovered i am pretty sure it would unite humanity more than anything else.

"Life can take many forms. Look at the forms life can take on this planet alone.

Here in this bush, there are insects you could easily mistake for rocks or for peices of bark - until one of them stings you, that is. Life does not have to consist of bipeds who move and breath and smoke cigars as we do.

I have said it before and say it again - the universe is a gigantic chamber of possibility where everything has the chance and the right to happen, and so we must not have cut-and-dry theories regarding just how life should look. Life could surprise us!"

Looked at from the standpoint of probability alone and based on what we collectively know or more correctly about what we think we know, I believe the answer from a scientific point of view is yes most likely there is life elsewhere in the cosmos. The majority of NASA scientists studying that possibility are very much convinced of this and to that end NASA is using some of its vast resources searching for signs of this life (i.e. the SETI program). That said however, the likelihood that we would be able to discover the existence of such life in our lifetimes, and in particular sentient life, is quite improbable. Still we try because it truly would be the greatest discovery in all human existence, well a close second anyway to beer.

I've wondered about that myself. I find it hard to believe that if the universe is so immense that we are the only ones here.

Ha, ha, I was just wondering this same question before I went to bed last night. I enjoyed reading your thoughts, everyone.

So what would we all do if the mothership sends out 50,000 drones all over Earth. Each drone ship has a team of 4 beings kitted out and tooled up for this important mission. All humanity holds its breath as each drone ship simutaneously opens up and the beings disembark. They look very nearly human (a relief) and they are each carrying some type of holdall.

Why are they here? What is their purpose? What can they teach us? The tension is palpable.

I believe that there is life out there somewhere. We just got a couple of books on the universe and when you look at the vast amount of stars out there, it seems just logical that there have to be planets that can sustain life of some kind mixed in with those stars. If there isn't........"it seems like an awful waste of space." (I love the movie, CONTACT, too!)
