Freemindfade I didn't agree with the way Obama handled Cuba either. That's a rather personal one for me as well since my wife is Cuban. is a different issue altogether . Anyone who studies the geopolitics of that know such.

Again the issue is the wall, it's bigotry on display. If Obama tried putting up a naval blockade or a wall along Florida's coast I would be calling him and anyone that supported that a bigot as well.

Rebel fighter. Yes there are laws in place to keep people from hiring illegal immigrants, but they seem to be pretty piss poor, considering all the undocumented workers in this country. As you said, Trump is a pretty smart guy. You don't think he has dozens of ways to hide illegal hiring? We can't even see his tax returns. As for the rest, very few ever face jail time (Google it). They pay fines that are a drop in the bucket, $1,500,000 sounds like lot, but it's spare change to a big corporation. Probably the hardest hit would be small employers, and they often get probation.

Jehalepeno. Why don't you just come out and say you think that any person who commits any type of crime is a scumbucket . It's obvious that you don't care how large or small the crime is. Buckets won't care, and no one will get mad. An added plus will be that you can apply it to any race ,ethnicity, or religion. It's a win all around.

Never a JW as you can see the wall brings out bigotry. As far as lower wage communites and new immigrants go. That has been a story as old as the United States.

The 'Wall' is just a thing. More symbolic than anything. Something is illegal or it's not, we have gotten to the point where we judge a political figures bigotry on his willingness or energy to enforce the law. Trump has chosen border security as one of his campaign issues and now he is acting on it. That's pretty much the end of the story. The idea that he is the biggest racist since Hitler is blown way out of proportion.

Why doesn't anyone step up and protest how poorly we treat our vets? we have a lot of other issues in this country that should come before our concern to protect someone who is essentially breaking the law. And I have no problem with anyone that does break the law, and comes and works or becomes legal or whatever, I have some dear friends who have done that, but I can't complain that a law exists.

kopp so you want us to be like China. That commercial is what makes America great. We can have commercials like this and discuss it. I will ask again did you watch the commercial in its entirety.

How about we be like Mexico, what do they do to illegal immigrants who cross over from central and south America?

Gotta say, certain sections of the 'liberal' Left spend far too much of their time obsessing over language and taking offence of behalf of others - Azor being a case in point.

Now, you can't call alcoholics 'alcoholics' - it's now 'people with alcohol abuse issues'.

And, it appears, a US citizen of Mexican decent (Jehalapeno) can't call illegal - yes, I said it - ILLEGAL immigrants 'wetbacks', without the usual childish smears of racism, fascism or supporting Trump.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

PS - no wetbacks have been harmed by this thread ...

And when it comes to the countries like Iraq, we are thoroughly naive on how they feel about us in those countries

Freemind fade I agree the wall is a symbol, and it's one of hate. No one in this post has compared Trump to Hitler. Yes there are many issues to discuss. This subject however has to do with the wall. It's bad PR, extremely costly to the average citizen, and is counter productive to real reform that is needed.

Please elaborate, and for the record, I am not keen on the wall idea, I think it's a lot of things, but "symbol of hate"? no. Explain to me how it symbolizes hate?

Freemind fade I agree the wall is a symbol, and it's one of hate - medieval castles also had walls. Were they also symbols of hate?

PS - I think Trump's proposal of a wall bordering Mexico won't work, but illegal immigration should certainly be tackled.
