Hey Logansrun (Brad), go for it.

It's never too late, and honestly, I think the goals mentioned are attainable, and realistic.

I went back to college in the early 90s. I took nursing, and it's not an easy course, and you have to have a specific type of personality to be really good at it. Some people are good at answering the questions right on the exams/provincial tests: but have the worst practical application of their book knowledge. But if you can get into something like Psychiatry, it is/can be a fascinating branch of nursing/medicine.

The one huge advantage Brad: you have youth on your side. It makes a world of difference. Even if, let's say, you don't like what you take (finish the course), you can always try something else and not ending up long in the tooth like Rayzorblade.

Give it a go, and it'll do wonders for your post-JW life. It'll be therapeutic: I know, been there.

Best of luck, and do it sooner than later.

    Best wishes,
    Rayzorblade

Thanks, Bradley! You're quite the intellectual yourself. In my opinion, a genuine interest in science is the most important part...that is what motivates me. I am a good student, but I get easy As in everything BUT science. LOL. My major classes are the only ones that really tap into my greatest ability and that's what I love about them. Don't ask me about math though, Advanced Ideas In Calculus did a number on Orbit. LOL I understood it perfectly about a week after finals!

As for your school, you were smart to choose a public school. I go to a private school and without scholarships I would be paying $17,000+ a semester!

If it is at all possible to pursue a graduate degree to get the credential's you are interested in rather than another AA or BA I'd strongly recommend it. Have you worked with the career services office at your university? They often have a lot of info and a network that can help you sort all this stuff through. Best wishes!

    Heya!

I recommend talking to Scully! She went back to school at 30 or so, and got her nursing degree. She's been talking me into it for ages now, and I'm going next year!

Contrary to popular belief, it's not all shit. In fact, there is very little of that nonsense. Trust me!

But seriously, talk to Scully. PM her. She loves to help people out!

I'm with core. There was this relgion that I grew up in that made "higher edcuation" seem evil... demonic. So... sorry, but I have no degrees, logansrun. Wish I did.

I have no degree either. College was quite unacceptable when I was groing up, so I never even considered it. Things changed though only a couple years after I graduated High School. If I had been born a couple years later I probably would have gone to college.

I started taking courses to get an AA and then a BS in Computer Science, but I have stopped going to school because my wife has recently started so that she can get a nursing degree.

I don't have 2 degrees but I have a professional diploma (3-yr program vs the usual 2 yr program) and a BA - both in counseling - weird thing is the professional diploma was harder and more intensive with a long internship than the BA

I have one degree, and it took me sometime to achieve this due to being raised in the borg. I am glad that I went back even though it was real hard being a single mom with three kids. I have a BA in counseling. I would have to agree with whoever said that if you already have a degree how about pursuing a graduate degree. I personally could go much further with a MSW.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

I am currently working on two degrees, Psychology and Forensic Science (with minors in Spanish, Arabic and Sociology). Yes, I'll be in school for a total or 6 years, but that's okay with me. Here is the career track I'd like to follow: Local Crime Scene Investigator- FBI Special Agent- FBI CSI- FBI Forensic Lab Supervisor- FBI Criminal Psychologist- FBI Criminal Profiler.

Brad, I think that you should take your time and explore several different fields. I think that double majoring keeps your options open.
