How sad. I've just heard that the girls died due to uncontrolled bleeding.

Only 29, both attorneys (in Iran!!!), poor little sweeties were willing to risk the ultimate to live life to the fullest.

I'm in awe of these ladies, and I wish them well on their journey.

    How sad.

    Dear Friends,

Thank you for all your good wishes and kind thoughts.

We are touched by all the cards and email pouring in every day from people all over the world.

Your kind gestures have brought much comfort to us as we anxiously wait for surgery next week.

We have been praying every day for our operation. We are excited about it as we've waited 28 years for it!

Please pray for us, for Operation Hope to be successful.

Both of us have started on this journey together and we hope that the operation will finally bring us to the end of this difficult path and may we begin our new and wonderful lives as two separate persons.

    May God bless you all,

    Laleh and Ladan Bijani

Very depressing. When we read about so many successful separation surgey's it just seemed like this one should come off w/o a hitch. The picture of these bright young women on the news, so excited and full of plans for a new life, now it's just too sad to see that photo .

I wonder does anyone know if any type of embryo procedures are being done to separate twins before they are born. I know they can do heart surgery so why not this?

Sad indeed. At least they died trying. Hopefully the doctors learned something from this surgery so that future cases can benefit from it.

That is a good question though, Panda.

I almost cried when I saw this on the news. I was really hoping that at least one of these brave ladies would make it. But this is what they wanted. They said that the would rather die than have to continue living the way they were. It's really sad though.

A friend of them was on the radio the other day being interviewed.

She was thanking the doctors for trying because it was something the girls desparately wanted and though the doctor had initially refused to do it because of the low chance of success, they had convinced him that it was something they wanted and was worth the risk to them.

Sad that they should lose their life striving to attain what they had dreamt of all their lives.

    Sad.
