We have heard a few reports here in Southern California about 2 great white sharks off the coast. Very rare, and interesting from a safe advantage point.

The news said that there has never been a reported shark attack/ death in Los Angeles county. I was suprised to hear that. I wonder if that is true.

You guys are cracking me up

freedom96, we do have an unusually high number of sharks (especially Makos) on the west coast this year. I can only assume it is due to the unseasonably warm and mild winter we had. The currents are very warm in the Pacific this time of year, so don't go swimming in the ocean, ok?! I'm too chicken to even go in past my knees.

LOL.... that picture made me remember going to see "Finding Nemo" (with my kids!) just a little over a week ago. There was a scene where a huge shark named Bruce (who spoke with an Australian accent, no less) kind of rounded up the main character and his sidekick and brought them to a 12-step meeting for sharks who wanted to quit being carnivores.

That was probably the funniest part of the movie.

Thank you very much for posting this picture, as I was on my way to Myrtle Beach this coming weekend for a little recovery time...I think now I will find a nice quiet place on the beach, pop up an umbrella, and WATCH the others go in the water.

My wife and I will go to Laguna Beach quite often, and there close to shore you can see dolphins. Not scared of them at all.

Sharks on the other hand, yes I would prefer to stay quite far away from them. Makes me nervous to go out too deep.

At least we didn't have the attack history that Florida had last year.
