BE WISE, Exactly what I was thinking. That stood out to me to. No friendships with the opposite sex are allowed.

Regularly talking to or exchanging messages with a member of the opposite sex over the phone could be a form of dating.
WTF?? This crazy religion. Everything is wrong. Everything is suspect. Talking to the opposite sex is dating. Dating leads to petting and necking. Petting and necking leads to sex. Sex is wrong. Well, IF you get married, sex is ok(just ok tho). Outside of that, don't talk to the opposite sex. Don't touch(including hugging) the opposite sex. Don't look at the opposite sex. Don't sit next to the opposite sex at meetings/assemblies.
I was in the mall the other day and I saw a group of teenages run into another group of teenagers. They apparently don't see each other that much. They ran up to each other, hugged, held hands, arms around each other, guys and girls. They seemed so normal, happy and cheerful. It hit me as I watched them that I have never seen a group of JW youths embrace each other that way. I have never seen that much joy out of any group of JWs when they run into friends, whether at the meeting, the conventions, the mall or whereever. It made me think that JWs don't have real joy. In fact, joy is robbed from them because of the insipid little rules laid down by the WTS.

Restaurant and theater managers often request that their clients refrain from using mobile phones.
I eat out frequently, from small family run ethnic restaurants to 4 and 5 star establishments. I have never ever been asked to turn off my cell phone in a restaurant. With so business people meeting for breakfasts, lunches and suppers I can't see how a restaurant's manager would want to anger a large part of the clientele by asking that mobile phones not be used.
In theatres / concerts / operas we are asked to turn off the phones or switch to vibrate mode.

A humorous article to say the least.
It serves as a reminder as to how desperate the Watchtower Society is to maintain a stranglehold on every facet of life when it comes to it's members.
Someone mentioned earlier that it was akin to a GESTAPO mentality. I agree completely. Once you have seen the Emperor has no clothes, it is rather sickening to realize you once believed this stuff isn't it? You shake your head in amazement that you once blindly accepted such nonsense as divine instruction from God. I know I do.
The WTS would like nothing more than to stifle the advancement of technology. Ask metatron for articles, modern medicine is performing surgeries that restore hearing and eyesight, when JW's want you to rely solely on the impotent tribal god Jehovah to do it in the future (which of course never comes, meanwhile you better be peddling magazines to keep a good public image)
Most importantly though, the world of information available via the Internet has led to a mass exodus.
F YOU Watchtower Society. May you get your just desserts in due time.

What's next ??????????
what happened too many people BORED at the assembly and send each other messages, ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh, sorry to announce that Brother A and Sister B has been disfellowshipped for using a cell phone at the meeting.
I love how they say, "it takes up so much time that could be used elsewhere", yeah like making them MONEY.
You could re-write the arcticle 1,000,000 times and insert a different item where it says cell phone.
as czar said "Millions now living will never learn."
I would like to read the article on "What's wrong with making money?", referenced at the bottom of the article, Could anyone post it ???????????????

I remember that article. Ah yes, the danger of "secret" relationships kept alive in their devious, sordid way by text messaging! A new weapon from the arch-deceiver himself!

A traveling Christian minister in Japan notes: "Some mothers are taking on extra part-time work just to pay for their children's mobile phone,
OMG!! They make this sound so bad. If it is that much of an inconvenience then the mother has bigger problems.
Why do they pick at every new gadget that comes along? They should just write an article such as:
Do you spoil your Children?
This way they can include all the "demonic devices" on the market and update and reissue the article every time a new toy comes out.

No big surprise. As Groucho Marx said in the 1932 Classic Horse Feathers:
Groucho: "I'm Against It"I don't know what they have to say,
it makes no difference anyway -
whatever it is, I'm against it!
No matter what it is or who commenced it,
I'm against it!
Your proposition may be good,
but let's have one thing understood -
whatever it is, I'm against it!
And even when you've changed it or condensed it,
I'm against it!
I'm opposed to it.
On general principles I'm opposed to it.Pretty much sums up the Watchtower's stance on everything else in the world.

You know, this is a perfect example of how the JW's on the surface seem so "rational" and prudent. Yes, of course, do "count the cost" before "jumping into a major project" (buying a cellphone?). But then when you analyze it (if you really have the stomach for it), it's so stupid it is hard to believe. Right. In deciding whether to allow your child to own a cellphone, you of course, go to the Bible. As usual, the WTS uses "scriptural" passages to promote their personal agenda, in this case, high tech communications in the 21st century.
And then, I liked the piece about the boy and girl sharing their thoughts with each other throughout the day. Thank God her parents stepped in to prevent this dangerous behavior. It's like "unchaperoned" conversations. The fact that they are not phyically together doesn't matter. Their conversations about what's going on, what they are feeling, and sharing their thoughts of course could lead to unbridled passion, which in turn could lead to lewd and lascivious sexual behavior. THAT of course should be stopped. Thank god the girl when to her parents and the elders to help her put and end to this outrageous behavior of talking to her boyfriend on a cellphone. God, this just underscores the tremendous irrational guilt that JW children are instilled with.
This makes me recall a WTS article I read (on my way out, but this helped me go) on the "dangers" of allowing children to read fictitious material. It started out telling a story about a little girl who had just read Charlotte's Web, and then closed the book and actually kissed the spider on the cover. Warning sign...of course. Your child may become too emotionally involved with the characters of this make belief work, and of course, that takes their focus off of Jehovah. It could also be emotionally damaging to a child to get so involved with make believe characters. The article extended the point to actually reading ANY novels. I was a Jane Austen fan and my mother had wanted to discuss the article with me....
Ughhhh!!! Flashbacks of how stupid, baseless, and indoctrinating the JW publications are!
