I personally hope that Seattle implodes in misery, crime and violence. All of the good people of Seattle leave and go to actual civilized cities. Let the communists fend for themselves, and make it a model of what happens when you let leftist radicals rule a city. Let the entire city become like Chaz. Then the rest of the country can see what happens when you prioritize wokeness, communism, absence of personal responsibility, law and order.
And if Portland follows suit, I'm ok with that too.

The imbalance of rich to poor has risen over the years in the US, social support structures have weaken or fallen back as well .
In just about every large city in the US or Canada, that's where you find the most homeless which has come about because of high real estate values pushing rental accommodations higher than the poor can afford.

Because of policies that make housing more expensive!
Rent control for instance is a favourite tool of the left, and has the effect of depressing investment in housing. Not granting permits to build more houses has a more direct effect.
The left usually run the cities and they are invariably shit-holes. Recently things seem to have gotten a whole lot worse with the bat-shit crazy of allowing "homeless" to set up their tents anywhere, and drag neighbourhoods down.
These "homeless" are just druggy criminal losers who don't want to work and they are increasing in number as the message being put out is "why should you work!"
