Uriel was one of six sons born to Bento da Costa who was a Portuguese Catholic. The problem is that Uriel was exposed for a short time to the religion of his mother, who acquiesced to pressure and forsook her faith to join her husband as a Catholic. Yes, he had that exposure to the ‘true religion’, ‘worshippers of the only true God’, to the ‘chosen ones’.
