rem -- I just recently watched some parts of a show on the sci-fi channel with Roger More hosting ,where they were claiming some success in the area of remote viewing and being able to use forms of "psychic " ability . Alot of it sounds to me like it is very similar to stuff mentiioned in the bible like when saul consulted the witch of endor or moses and the majic practicing priests . Demonically possessed people also were the first to recognize who jesus was . The use of such ability was always associated with evil spirits in the old and new testament. There is no doubt in my mind that what was once called scorcery is now called by other names .

Yep. But would I know that they were dead when I saw them?

    Maybe I'm a necrophiliac...

Heathen, I think the clue there is that it was on the sci-fi channel. This is the channel that also hosts John Edward, that little rascal. There is what is now called "Technical Remote Viewing" but it has not produced any positive results, either. It's pretty much a scam, except the sad thing is that the scammers are scammed themselves. Reminds me of the Watchtower Society.

I agree that john edwards is a scam but also think there is some form of scorcery being used . The watchtower doesn't use these forms of spiritism that I know of anyway .

Well, well, WELL! As you can all see, I'm still a newbie and I have not yet run across a thread about ghosts. Sorry about that. Anyway, my husband and I run a website that I would like to introduce. Good, bad, or indifferent, we would like your comments....

Nice site. So what evidence have you uncovered, other than the photographs with obvious artifacts? (Orbs*? You've got to be kidding me. It's so... last year) Funny, I had that exact same Kodak digital camera... got those same orbs in low light conditions. Now my sister has it... taking ghostly pictures of her little baby. hehe

I thought the EVP was entertaining as well.

But seriously, I think it's cool that this stuff gets investigated, but some of the stuff that is used as evidence is pretty doggone ridiculous. I wanna see a real ghost, ya hear?

And the correlation between EMF and paranormal activity... how, exactly, was that correlation calculated?

*Orbs are most commonly caused by out-of-focus insects or dust being relected back into the lens by the flash. Some of the streaks are obviously caused by the long shutter delay that digital cameras automatically adjust to in low light settings. The bottom line is, in low light settings you are guaranteed to get these artifacts - especially with a cheap digital camera.

A good friend of mine this week had to shut down an entire company's computer systems for the first time ever as their 17th century office building was invaded for the weekend by ghost busters. Yes it's true. The stories I have heard were quite freaky. I have never seen a ghost myself, but the fact a company can be brought in a great expense with state of the art equipment tells you *something* is happening, even if it be scientifically un-explainable. We're not talking about people who are nuts here. Theres something going on, it's just that no-one can explain it. And until it can be explained in our terms, it will remain a mystery.

    Redneck,

There's a difference between criticizing belief in ghosts and criticizing shoddy photography. Passing 'orbs' and streaks off as evidence for the paranormal is insulting to all of our collective intelligence on this board. If there is evidence, it should be quality, not crap.

Just keeping people honest. Ghost hunters should realize that their credibility is instantly put into question when they post such well-known photographic phenomenon off as evidence.

But I still think it's a cool thing they are doing. They should just do it better. If there were any good money in it I would totally do it, it looks fun to me.
