I'm off tomorrow for my first physical in 10 years (or is it 12?). And I'm seriously nervous. I don't care much for doctors, I've had some bad experiences in the past that's kind of put me off. I haven't had many physical health problems so I've never seen the need. I've got a couple of issues now that are on my mind, one which does worry me a little. So we'll see.

I just hope this guy isn't a bully. I'd hate to go to all the trouble of blood tests and whatever else they do, just to walk out in anger because he's a jerk.

I don't know why I'm posting this. The whole thing is rather silly. But sometimes it feels good to say something and send it out to the cyber universe.

    Don't know why. How odd.

    Half a league, half a league onward . . . .

I hate doctors too. Never did much for me. I have had to diagnose myself and basically do all the drug research and ask the doctor to just give it to me. usually they do--after they 'piss in the corner' -as my husband says- and make sure i know my 'place'. But I figured out a long time ago--the only difference between me and them is they went to med school, and I live in the body they think they know. So go with an open mind, but dont expect much. dont worry over much, it will mess up the blood pressure reading....do some meditation exercises in the waiting room(hope you dont have to sit there with screaming sick kids...)

good luck! just think of it like a talk on the ministry school....once you actually get to see the doctor...it will all be over in about 5 minutes!

Big Tex, when your experiences are what you draw from, you have legitimate concerns about tomorrows medical visit.

I am not big on going to the doctor, clinic or hospitals. But generally speaking, I've been treated well. It's a good thing too. Otherwise, given some recent concerns, they may have gone completely unnoticed and given the final results, I could possibly do some unnecessary damage to myself.

Don't be afraid to say: "I am nervous and uncomfortable".

I'm sure the doctor will have some good jokes and amicable conversation to help take your mind off of things.

You'll be glad you went. Take it from Rayzorblade, it's a wise idea to go and check out how things are.

Take care Big Tex. It'll be fine tomorrow. I'm confident it will, my visit was extensive, but all good.

hehe...I just had my first "post-50" physical last year. It included the "usual" prostate exam, as well as a colonoscopy and endoscopy, and an upper and lower Barium radiology (I'll leave it to you to provide details about the "lower" part )

If all you have to do is a blood test...consider yourself lucky, my dear fellow! LOL

Rayvn -- Amen! You're a woman after my heart.

Ray -- I hope you're right. I feel tremors in the force. I'm ready to bolt at the first sign of attitude or nastiness though.

Craig -- I've already had the 'scope. Twice. Did the Barium thing too. I was 23 and found out I was allergic to iodine by swallowing some Barium. Threw me into shock. The doctors just left me the hallway for an hour or two until I pullled out of it. That was the same group that treated my attack of pancrititis by insisting I eat their food, which I found out later was the worst thing to do. But yes, this is the big one, where he will no doubt enjoy spelunking and checking my tonsils from the back end.

I always am fearful and apprhensive visitng a doc. My therapist told me it is b/c of the sexual abuse, that it triggers memories. Just a thought.

I feel for you Tex. I hate going to the doctor so much I have in the past given myself stitches, rather than see a doctor. Sheila wasn't to pleased about those times.

I'm the kind that would rather not know if I had a serious problem. I don't know what I'm going to do when it comes time to have the old "exit plumbing" checked out.

Just remember they don't call it "medical practice" for nothing. If they tell you something you're not sure of or comfortable with, get a second opinion.

If you are worried about whether your donut is turning into a bagel, go listen to some recent Billy Connoly. He's had the lot checked out recently and explains in graphic detail what is involved. If you have to have a rectal, make the doctor at least buy you flowers

I had the camera crew up there a few months ago, but at least in Aus, they knock you out first.
