People, may I remind you, that it would be wise to NOT jump to conclusions with regards to the recent murder/suicide in New York City, and a recent poster to this forum.

It's inappropriate, and it has not been proven to be (name ommitted) the name I have edited from some of the previous posts.

If the said person returns, think about how that would make YOU feel? Imagine how they'd feel.

Think of the legal ramifications of making such statements, even eluding to that: 'so-and-so' has not posted here since yesterday; 'I think it was 'so-and-so' ' etc., I'm sure you get my point.

Because a username, albeit unusual, is someones moniker on this forum, it does not automatically mean that they are what their username is.

Some of you have usernames that are dubious, or could be perceived as offensive to some people; it doesn't automatically mean that you are what your username may mean.

I would appreciate everyone's cooperation with regards to this matter. Do NOT jump to conclusions.

    Thank you folks.

Just to add... that (someone) has posted on the boards yesterday.

Now, we could say that it *could* be his departed soul refusing to leave. But that would be another heated discussion.

    Rayzor,

I really don't think anyone was seriously saying that "a certain poster" was the NY Assassin, it was just a play on words. I took it as a joke, and I got the impression others did too.

    Exactly Nickey.

Who is to know, just by a mere username, that the murder/suicide that took place in NYC was a forum member's doing?

It's dangerous to jump to conclusions, and could spell some real problems/headaches for parties concerned.

    Thanks for your post Nickey.

PS: Someone/somebody - will always appreciate that usage

    Prisca, I appreciate your comment.

But I'm afraid the post, which contained the forum member's name, is cause for great concern.

Eluding to something as serious as murder, I have to admit, in the best interest of the forum and this poster, I deleted the name from the posts and replaced it with (someone). If it was a joke: it was in bad taste.

If anyone can speak on behalf of anyone here, I think the only person who could speak for them: would be themselves.

    I hope you folks understand.

I think the poster y'all on about posted in my thread on the subject.

Too funny that he could be linked because of his name

Didnt know he had stopped posting??? Did he announce he was stopping? Hope he's just taking a break, he's a cool cat.

Gamaliel, thank you for your post and your addendum to your original post.

Given that the name (username) was used on this thread, and he/she was not available to state one way or the other, I erred on the side of caution.

Because I do not know this person personally, and their username was placed on this thread originally, unless I have some sort of idea that this person is OK, with being (in pure humour) that they were being the on-line perfect foil for what has taken place recently in New York City; as I have stated, I erred on the side of caution.

If (original deleted name) has told you, or anyone else on this forum, that it was totally OK to use their name, it would have manifested itself somehow on this thread. But because I did not see anything that lead me to believe otherwise, I edited the thread: NOT DELETE/Lock it.

I'm sure, if not unquestioned, that your intent was pure and in the vein of humour, but since the 'said poster' had not indicated to me, or any other moderator here on JWD, I felt it best to remove their name until they have stated: Otherwise.

Thank you Brummie for posting that information.

Looks like, IMHO, that the said person is NOT the person that perpetrated this crime.

If someone had used my name, I would have not been impressed.

It's so easy, upon some careful on-line investigation, that the person previously mentioned, was NOT the criminal in any way shape or form.

To state that: 'oh...it was only a joke', need to be more circumspective.

Your joke, without consent of the 'named' individual, can lead to serious consequences.

Unless you, or myself or any forum member knows this person implicitly (username deleted), it would be wise to consult with that person ahead of time, or better still: let them post on their own behalf.

    Thank you once again.

I'll be in New York for the next few days and I don't want to say why. But you can only assume this will get edited if you find out why minimus is going to NYC. Chill people. Once we can't express silly, obvious humor, well, forget it.

Of course it wasn't, that's what the whole joke was about!!! Sheesh.

No one said that the "name-deleted poster" was the literal NYC assassin, it was just that the name fitted the situation. That's what the joke was about, a couple of posters here have indicated they found it funny. And I wouldn't be surprised if the "certain poster" does too. In fact, I would be very surprised if the "certain poster" doesn't find it funny. It was just a play on words, no harm meant, and certainly no intention was there to imply that the "certain poster" was the literal NYC assassin.

    Folks: I hear ya/and I read ya!

First off, thank you (Those that PM'd me) and who posted here.

You all gave me some important items to think about, and critiqued them: important.

I did not get the joke, initially.

I do now, and well.....I could probably state my motive for editing, I won't. It would be inappropriate now.

I appreciate the feedback, and the PMs/E-mails.

I will me mindful of this, next time. My apologies to those that were put off by my edit.

    Rayzorblade of the 'slow-to-get-the-joke' class.
