One of the common WT condemnations is that apostates are like Uzzah who dared to reach out and steady the Ark of the covenant when it was nearly upset by the bulls while being carried on a wagon. Especially as an apostate who spoke up on the child molestation problem, my wife and I are compared to Uzzah who did not do things "Jehovah's way" and took matters into our own hands.

The ark was supposed to be carried by the Kohathite Levites, with poles that went through the rings provide in the sides of the sides of the ark. The incident that resulted in Uzzah's death was caused by the decision to not carry the Ark as instructed by Jehovah but the haul it a different way. But who decided how to haul it? Is there any reason to think Uzzah was teh one who chose to carry the Ark on a wagon? Where were the Kohathited Levites at the time? Why did they not carry the Ark?

( cannot past so bear with me as I retype)

A look at 2 Sam 6:1-3 reveals something important:

6 And David proceeded again to gather all the choice men in Israel ....Rose up and went to Baalejudah to bring up from there the ark of the true God, where a name is called on, the name of Jehovah of armies, sitting on the cherubs. However, they had the ark of the true God ride upon a new wagon, that they might carry it from the house of Abinadab which was on the hill; and Uzzah and ahio, the sons of Abinadab were leading the new wagon.

Who are "they" that had the ark ride upon a new wagon. The previous sentence is speaking about King David and "all the choice men". All the choice man were certainly under King David's command so the decision to NOT carry the Ark as instructed by Jehovah would fall on David, the head of "Jehovah's earthly organization" (you see where this is going?)

So what we have is a man of "good intentions" (Insight Book II, page 1145) died because Jehovah's theocratic organization chose not to do the right thing. "Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were leading the new wagon" so if they both had chosen to stand back and WATCH IT FALL then they would have gone down in history as teh wretched slobs who let Jehovah's Ark fall. If they touch the Ark to steady it they die by Jehovah's hand. What should the have done?

The organzation was responsible for a bad decision. Rather than die supporting a bad decision shouldn't Uzzah and Ahio have refused to support the decision? Would it have beeen wrong to refuse the "privilege of service"? If tha would have been proper, would it not have been proper to warn the next volunteers of the dangers and consequences of participating in that organizational mistake? Ifso, would it have been wrong to speak to "David and all the choice men" about the potential harm of the policy?

At the very least, how dare the WT condemn us as apostates for pointing out dangerous and harmful policies? Unlike David who was known for admitting his mistakes, "Jehovah's organization" today is beyond questioning.

Don't call me an Uzzah. Call me a Nathan if you want, who pointed out to David his sins and lived, rather than an Uzzah who silently went along and died.

My JW friends, what will you prove to be?

How did they come up with that???? Reminds me of my friend in Florida. Her son is df. When he started coming back to the meetings, she was not allowed to talk or encourage him in any way. But the elders who were suppose to encourage did nothing. Even one of the elders wife's questioned why they were not doing what they were suppose to. The elder said when the prodical son came back he came back all the way. Absolutely nothing to do with the situation. The prodical son didn't have to attend any meetings and his father could talk to him. Doesn't sound like this illistration has anything to do with the situation. I probably don't explain how I feel very well, but it sounds like they ( the ones telling you this) are layered in stupid.

    Welcome Rockon,

We have not met as yet. You quoted the elders as saying

when the prodical son came back he came back all the way.

Poor fool. Even the WT made a point a decade ago that the father, when he just saw his son on the hill top, RAN UP TO HIM to welcome him home. The Society teaches they can come home but we will treat you like you do not exist for a few months if not years before we welcome you back.
