Apparently I'd been in prison, gone to wife-swapping parties and consorted with fortune tellers.
I guess they have to demonise those who leave less others too are tempted to stray.
What did they say about you?

How on Earth does someone "consort with fortune tellers"? Crazy JW gossip ...
LOL!
Got to think its something pretty bad. No elder visits in over a year, and only 2 in the first 1.5 years. Saw a sister at the grocery store, she wouldn't make eye contact and scurried away as fast as possible, not a word said.
It been nice. I should get some more rumors going
snugglebunny - I haven't heard any slander about myself yet. Gossip, yes, slander, no.
If I did, I would make every effort to have the slanderer dealt with - by their elders or by the law.
Beat them with their own stick or an even bigger stick.
whatever was said about me was probably all true.
I don't know for sure but I'd imagine the JW gossip on me would be materialism.
The last time I spoke to a JW was in summer 2012. He began talking about coming back to the meetings, the end is so close ... I told him that I was starting uni that September and that I could come back to the meetings after I'd graduated.
He said 'the end' might come before that.
I replied by saying that nobody knows when the end could come - not me, not him, not the GB. He had to accept this and we said our goodbyes.
A couple of weeks afterwards I saw a sister on the same high street and she completely blanked me.
So what was spread about me?
Materialism?
Apostasy?

Back in the day, they said that I was homosexually prostituting myself, and that they saw me entering older men's cars, late at night doing only-who-knows-what (I was unable to get an answer as to what were JWs doing late at night in such area, where they allegedly saw me).
They said that they saw me dressed in woman's clothes in some street corner (up until the year 2000 I had heavy mustache, you can imagine how feminine I would have looked! And it was the 80's, can you imagine the size of the shoulder pads I'd need?)
They said that I was a sexual predator of sort, and that parents should be wary of their children around me.
They said that they saw me entering seedy bars, and hanging being friends with shady characters. (I started taking classes in college and was at night, working full time, and still doing the JW work).
They said that I was stealing money from my boss at work, and that I was a very irresponsible worker (my job at the time was with a non-JW brother of a JW, and they were always asking my boss questions about me).
They said that I was bringing men to have sex into my apartment (at the time I had an elder and two MOs as roommates).
Gossip in the last congregation I belonged to was insane, morbid and very ill-intended. Those people at the Rio Piedras congregation were just downright filthy nasty.
That's when I decided to have fun with them and give them real reasons to talk.
We heard rumors that I embezzled (six figures) from my employer, cheated on our income taxes, and watched gay porn.
Yes they have to demonize anyone who leaves because they can't admit that someone might leave for a legitimate reason.
According to some, I had sex orgies, had a couple of girlfriends that also had other partners and watched atheist and participated in anti-JW propaganda. Pretty accurate, I did all those things.
I think they will say that G. thinks he knows it better... and that's true 😉
