Remember this? It was one of my first assignments, at Bethel:
When Our Calendars Were Something Else

They always looked a bit weird to me as a kid, even though the artwork was pretty good in most instances.
I was embarrassed when people came in to our home and there was a Calendar there for them to see.
I guess I wasn't really cut out to be a JDub.
Now all the literature looks so "Culty" to me.

My father always used to order 20 calendars for all over the house. It's crazy to think about how much he loved them.

Thanks, Phizzy and kpop, for your replies. I can relate.
I have the actual calendar pictures of both the above and that of the Christians fleeing Jerusalem. If memory serves, the artist was Sister Mann, and the original oils were on display at Brooklyn Bethel.
My job was quality control. Often, the images were "off register," i.e., the three colors and black were misaligned and the picture was distorted.
Those were tossed . . .

Thanks compound! Yes the artwork was always impressive. That much I'll say. The new calendars are all about giving them more money, building more Kingdom Halls (even though they are selling more), giving them more money and volunteering to work at Bethel so they don't have to pay Bethelites anything anymore. Oh did I mention they need more money. I mean, Jehovah needs more money. Jehovah.

They don't even make calendars any more. The last one was for 2016.

Sir yes you are correct but I used the wrong word, I should have said "most recent were" not the "new ones are." Everything is about syntax

Did you come across Alan Boyle, in the Art department?

Lostandfound:
Did you come across Alan Boyle, in the Art department?
I was in Brokklyn, late '60s/early '70s and was not in the Art Dept., per se, although I applied. The name, Alan Boyle, is not familiar to me, but it never hurts to ask!
THANKS!

The one good thing they produced and they stopped producing them! I was going to say I got my paws on the last one 2016 although I've been out for years. Little peccadillo of mine.
Compound Where else have I seen that picture it is so familiar. Not on a calendar wasn't around in those days CC
