The July 22, 2003 Awake! has another one of those nutty articles on the evils of Internet (pornography). It seems they are trying hard to get the average Dub to link the two. Anyway, at the end of several articles on the problem, they have advice on dealing with the addiction. Here, on page 10, is the first image they provide:

Not a bad idea - seek God, devote yourself to prayer and meditation when you'd feel "tempted"; keep it between you and God. However, we all know that the Tower has more in mind than this, don't we, boys and girls! Here, of course is the real way they want their struggling guilt-ridden drones to deal with the problem:

That's right: turn yourself over to the elders and their tender mercies; make sure that yet another area of your private life is on display and subject to congregational approval or censure. Anyone feel like rushing back to re-enlist??

Yes! Rat yourself out to the elders, who know better than to rat themselves out to each other! Maverick

    Stephanus,

Oh, come on now. The internet would be closed down immediately if porn was ever made available. What sites did you mistakenly believe showed pornography?

LOL. This is almost what I said to the Dubs at the door over this article. I said that just like going into a newsagent's you knew where the porno mags were and could simply avoid them. I knew that they were on the net themselves and said, "it only takes five minutes on the net to realise where the porno stuff is and how to avoid it. The rest of the 'net is a vast cornucopia of information and useful sites" The bloke then mentioned how useful he finds Google!!

Well I discovered that prayer gets you no where.

Sexual urges are one thing that the Watchtower cannot supress.

    Hamas -

Too right. How often in my tender youth did I spend entire nights on my knees, praying for a hot chick. Don't work, no way not nohow.

I never tried praying for the desire to pioneer, however... Would that work? I know several pioneer sisters who ended up pregnant by their bible studies.

Not that I want to get pregnant....

It's ironic that the Society get so specific about condemning internet pornography, which in itself is absolutely correct of course, but maintain that their policy on dealing with child molestation accusations is correct and supported by God's word, considering that the internet is a favourite haunt of paedophiles and a majority of paedophiles are addicted to pornography.

Looking at the guy in the magazine, I just feel so sad that at his age, his only outlet is a computer.

Notice too that he is not spiritual, as he is not wearing a tie.
