Sparlock is making his rounds again

I was at the meeting last night and the dreadful video about Caleb and Sparlock was forced upon the audience. Honestly, I had forgotten how bad it was. The mother's manipulative over-reaction and Caleb's acceptance that his toy was evil. There was nothing about Sparlock except his designation as a warrior-wizard to set the mother off like that. "Magic" was HER word and so what?

I commented to my wife how silly it seemed to be coming down so hard on a boy's imagination, and she explained to me how the toy was a promotional toy for the whole Sparlock tv series and movie that is full of wizardry and witchcraft! There is no such series or movie. I told her that I didn't think there was any such thing and she said, " what, do you think they would just make it up?"

I hope she figures it out today, but I know that she'll just slide it over into the Harry Potter file. I think I want the T-Shirt.

I was outside on car park duty. A much coveted position of service in our hall, even the cold and snow is preferable to sitting in that blicks.

she said, " what, do you think they would just make it up?"

    It never stopped them before!

Oh, dear. Sorry to hear that this was a reaction to a perfectly reasonable question. This just illustrates how the JWs have been brainwashed by the corporation to believe the lies. question the WBT$ and the JWs are conditioned to switch their minds off to protect their rock star pope leaders.

Does your wife watch any of the Disney movies? They are full of witches and wizardry. Frozen is a good example. Has your wife ever been to Disneyland? The MAGIC KINGDOM?

    just saying!

I remember how Harry Potter was the Sparlock of my time. Yet everyone in the congregation was lining up to see all the Lord of the Rings movies. My wife could not understand that. This is so typical of the religion.

Heh, coincidently I recently decided to go ahead and watch the Harry Potter movies. They are actually pretty great movies in my opinion.

Maybe someday someone will make a movie about young Caleb growing up, going to high school or college, waking up from the manipulative teachings of the JWs and finally getting to see whether all that interest in Sparlock was warranted by his classmates.

Why would they trot out that old video again?

Maybe the flock have been ignoring the "direction" from the GB??

It seems to me that instead of forcing her son to throw the object received as a gift in the trash, the mother should have contacted Caleb's classmate and, while thanking him for his kindness, return to him the object, simply explaining that she is doing this for personal reasons. JWs are very often rough and unintelligent in their relationship with people not sharing their faith.

If they think a toy is bad, I wonder what they are going to do about my Frozen silver coin, full color, I bought last year. It is a one ounce New Zealand mint coin (a coin, legal tender) bearing a full color rendition of one of the characters on Frozen. I suppose that would fall under magic--that is, unless they somehow got it in the Worldwide Damnation Fund or used it to finance a mission in Israel.
