Do You Believe The News Media Is Trustworthy?

There is a big difference between reporting news from a specific angle or with a bias, and completing fabricating facts.

When CNN or Fox News or the New York times, report on something, it can be trusted that the FACTS reported are probably true. They just report on things from a specific angle.

So if CNN for example, has 10 news items about Trump and 5 are negative, they will emphasize those, and perhaps only mention the positive ones in passing. FoxNews would probably do the opposite.

So this is not about calling Fake News to any news that is critical of you, like our buffoon-in-chief does. It's about recognizing that actual truthful facts can be reported with different biases and perspectives.

I don't think it's a black and white issue. News outlets do spin any story to fit the bias of their main views. That is why I find it important to investigate all sides of a story and come to my own conclusion. Of course this takes time and there is not enough time to do this for 100% of the news.

One thing I do know for a fact. The first thing cult leaders do, is to tell you not to look at any information or material that makes the cult leader or group look bad. It's all lies they say!

I find it somewhat hypocritical to paint 'News Media' with a broad brush of not being 'trustworthy' while defending a president who lies almost every time he opens his mouth.

Anyone who believes the news from the major outlets can be trusted is seriously misguided (with all due respect).

FOX News, although they push their specific agenda and use music, entertainment, sexuality, specific colors, graphics, and specific dialogue to sucker viewers, usually is truthful when they choose to behave like an actual news network.

Now in my 60s and learning so much I learned in school, on the news and at JW meetings was total "malarky". I have learned to question my own opinions and ask myself, "on what information and source did I form this opinion". Question everything.

This is typical hyperbole that is not supported by factual evidence.

If this is true, then out of the hundreds of news pieces found in the New York Times, for example in the last week, it should easy for you tell us 3 FACTS reported by the NYT that are factually incorrect.

Bernie Saunders has come out and effectively agreed with Trump that the media is biased, specifically that the Washington Post is not giving his campaign the coverage that he thinks it should because of the owners political views.

So is the media still not biased now the ultimate leftist has claimed they are too?

And the NYT? Not biased? If you're looking for blatant incorrect facts, I'm sure there are some, but usually propaganda is more subtle than that.

Simon, your seeing red. Headline #one says Trump was urging unity rather than racism. (A nice headline but not reflective of his whole speech.) Can you admit that the NYT reported something positive about Trump?

For reasons of clarity the headline was changed to say Trump assailed Hate but still insisted guns were not the issue. Again a rather positive review of the speech. This second one included the important detail that the President was not yet prepared to blame the weaponry. That is factual isn't it?

Some Democrats felt the first headline was inadequate at capturing the gist of the speech and gave trump a pass on the many other speeches he has given. That might have been influential but as I read it the headline was changed before most critical comments were made. Either way, the NYT has had a Center/left leaning for years. That's' not a secret my friend. Nor is it a reason to dismiss everything they report. I'll add that anyone so worked up about this so as to cancel a subscription, they also have a problem.

There is no news media, its all pundits and opinion pieces. The news died long ago.
