I know I know . . . You're probably thinking 'all of them', and it's true that the songbook is riddled with wrong stuff . . . But are there any songs in PARTICULAR that irk your moral sensibilities?

For me it would be song #26, "You Did it for Me". It's based on a beautiful scripture, a quote from Jesus about being merciful to the lowliest among us, and they've twisted it to be about giving to the Governing Body. "All the things that are done for their comfort and aid are things he considers that must be repaid". Gag! All I can see is the GB getting rich and fat from donated funds, all while getting undeserved adulation and demanding more and more. As if they haven't misapplied enough scriptures to themselves, here's yet another, and one of the most reprehensible.

All of them. A few years back I was searching for national anthems of different countries. I don't remember which ones I found, but I had found where the Watchtower had used the exact same music as some of those national anthems as their kingdom melodies. They changed the words, but it was the exact same music. I'm surprised that they didn't get copyright infringement, they are always pulling it on other folks.

One is the German National Anthem. Given the recent dominance of Mercedes in F1, it gets played fairly regularly after Grand Prix and damnit, the words are still in my head somewhere.

'Loyally submitting to theocratic order' (114?) is the creepiest song I've ever heard. When I told my advisor the title of the song, he looked at me wide-eyed and said, no it's not, you can't name a song that.

I have not been able to listen or see how the WTS has ravaged the songs in their most recent songbook.

I can remember the green songbook when I was a child and every successive songbook has gotten worse and worse and I speak as a piano player at the KH. The attendees never sang with much feeling and those who did were told to quiet down and not make a show of themselves, not even allowing them to sing harmony although the notes were right there on the page.

Yeah, they sort of mumble or drone the words. They don't even raise their voices to the normal volume level you would sing at. It seems like they're afraid to express themselves.

Some of the old JW song books contained Christian hymns in which the lyrics had been changed to fit Watchtower theology. I think that they admitted this when they introduced the "baby sh_t brown" song book in the 1980s, as it supposedly contained only JW lyrics and music.

But like others have mentioned, the new songs were lifeless and hard to sing.
