  I have been keeping up with the religion constantly asking for money, taking KH savings accounts, etc...But back when I was attending years ago there were at least two stories I heard about brothers who brazenly embezzled significant amounts of money! I wasn't surprised when I heard this because I knew some JWs are worthless and think they're not going to be prosecuted.

  Maybe the religion does not even TRUST the local JW brothers to keep their hands out of the till so they don't want a large amount accumulating. So, they want it right away.

  Why wouldn't they send everything above running costs to the branch?

  WT owns their ass.

  My advice is to donate nothing, ever. That way, nothing goes back to the washtowel headquarters. But, if you aren't willing to do that, at least do it during these events. Again, the Worldwide Damnation Fund will get nothing. You still waste money, you still get negative value. But at least that way, the funds stay more local.
