There have been no invitations this year to the Memorial; the last meeting I attended was the Memorial, 2016. I went to bookend services and visited with dear friends of some 40 years, many of whom were tiny children when we first met. Now, they have their own kids.

Being the jolly guy I am, I made a point to chat up those who initially shunned me. Not on this night, no siree, Bob!

BUT, three different invitations to Easter Sunday family gatherings from people who REALLY do care about me.

I'm beginning to see life and people in a truer light . . .

I love the fact that I generally do not know when it is unless I read about it on here.

You just dropped a bomb on me! I never thought about the fact that the 1914 prophecy is based on our modern calendar and not the Jewish lunar calendar used at the time the prophecy was written. Good catch!

Indeed, same here. I really never thought of this. I think this detail really goes unnoticed. Why would those desert dwellers create calculations based on a calendar that didnt exist?

I haven't gone in 30 years or more, wont again quite sure.

The WTS/JWS memorial is their own unique version, which personally in my opinion went twisted intentionally by opposing mainstream Christendom's practice, .

I'm not religious minded anymore but if I were I would take the non-JWs version of all devoted followers to partake as instructed by Jesus himself, he didn't say only the anointed 144,000 should did he ?

Also not going again this year. Haven't been since the version a few years ago that was basically an infomercial for the jw.org thing. Last weekend, my wife had some friends over and as expected on the way out they left me with an invitation. Last night, my wife asked if I was going and got very upset when I said no. She said she would have never married me, if she knew it was going to turn out like this. And added she was going to move-out if I could not even manage to make the memorial. You already know what my first thought was, but I kept control.

This is on top of several weeks ago being told I had 'obviously' been taken over by Satan and his demons.

As an aside: does anyone know if the jw's have always celebrated a memorial? Was it started in this form back in Russel's day?

I haven´t attend any memorial or other meeting for over 10 years now. During the first years with my absence, a few attempts was made to invite me, but the discussions that followed made the elders think it was much better if I stayed at home. My wife however still goes to every meeting, the time I got free, I used to read your comments here….much more spiritual….

So far, I have not received a call or an invitation to attend. I think they are finally leaving me alone!

    "Taking a stand"?

    So much DRAMA!

This isn't the frikkin' Great Tribulation! It's not imaginary Armageddon!

It's NOTHING! That's ALL IT IS!

    Get a grip... breathe... relax

You'll feel fine in the morning.

Drama-Kings and Queens aside, this isn't risking your life like by refusing a blood transfusion.

Why don't we give everyone a "Sturm und Drang" trophy for participation in the "Great APOSTATE STAND of 2017"?

Everything is a circus if you're a clown.

Yes, Russell and the Bible Students have always celebrated Christ's supper. However, back in Russell's day, they all partook of the emblems.

It was later, when the JWs split off and re-invented the wheel, that it was decided that only those with "heavenly hope" could partake of Christ's blood and flesh. I believe that happened around 1935. Or, at least, that is when the "other sheep" class was born. The rejection of the emblems likely happened sometime after that.

Coincidentally, 10 years later, the WT decided to not only block the JWs from partaking of the wine (Christ's blood), they also banned the JWs from partaking of the world's blood supply.

The rejection of blood transfusions is consistent with the rejection of the blood of Christ.

Russell thought that his job was to collect the scattered members of the "Bride of Christ," so, to his thinking, EVERYONE who joined with him was a part of that "Bride" class.

A problem arose when the ranks of those associating with the WTB&TS rose well beyond 144,000. Slogan Engineers and Bible Apologists were assigned the task of making this reality fit in with doctrinal expectations, and voila! -- a new "class" was revealed to worldwide seekers of excuses.

From the twisted perspective of the WTB&TS, it all fits. For fanatics it always all fits.

I do not agree with the claim that "the rejection of blood transfusions is consistent with the rejection of the blood of Christ." Convince me.
