When they stood with Boston after the marathon bombing, the slogan "Boston Strong" was okay with virtually everyone. You did not hear people in Houston complaining that they were strong also.
Same with Las Vegas after the concert shooting. Social media largely replaced the slogan about "what happens in Vegas" with [hashtag]VegasStrong. None of that is insulting to other cities.
If people raise money and awareness for death-dealing strokes, it doesn't mean those people are for death by cancer.
A group has a specific cause about black lives and some of you act as if they are against blue lives or white lives. Not at all. It's really no different from people fighting to save the whales and you all assume they wish porpoises would be killed.

@OnTheWayOut: That is a very superficial way of seeing the movement. It's like saying GreenPeace is about for Peace for Nature when they really are a very militant activist group, borderline terrorist, with a very narrow agenda that isn't really about nature or peace. Or that ISIS is just about creating an independent Islamic state. Or Nazis are just a form of socialism. That's all true, the Nazi's and ISIS had a political platform that had 'good' aspects, for a very narrow group of beneficiaries, that sure, may have been oppressed at times, and at the cost of a great amount of others.
Sure some of the BLM platform is 'good' but the solutions they propose (riots, burning, changing language, destroy the police) is anything but. And that is a problem. The primary issue BLM has is that, unlike Dr. King in the 60s, there is no system that is inherently racist to stand up against so they invented one and then demand that everybody agrees and if anyone disagrees or goes against the heterodoxy they must be destroyed.
If you really believe the system is racist to the core, the US has a first and a second amendment, if you can't get your representatives voted in, perhaps that says something. If you still believe that you didn't get voted in because "rrrrrrrrrrracism" form a militia, get some weapons and start policing your own neighborhoods and declare your independence. Black Panthers tried that. It failed miserably as it turns out criminals are bad at policing. But you can try failed policy again.

Blm is against blue lives . They hate the police so much they want to get rid of them. When a policeman gets hurt or dies I have never heard them say how important blue lives are and that we should create a vigil for police officers. They do not like the police....and regarding just Black Lives, if you say ALL LIVES MATTER they tell you are not woke and don’t you dare say that.

Sounds like the reaction you get when you say to an unwoke WT publisher that you don't believe the Governing Body are the Faithful and Discrete Slave Class.
There's woke, then there's woke. There's slaves and there's slaves. What's the difference?
I guess one thing is the nature of the damage done. Busting buildings is one thing. Busting consciences and relationships is another.
Reminds me of how some wars are conducted using poisonous gas - do that and yes you kill everyone but you leave the roads and buildings in place.Guess the WT is ahead of the game - it gets everyone to embrace slavery and not even slavery to a good master who the slave may come to love. But to a horrid master who cares nothing for the lives of the slaves.

Just like JWs will never admit they're a cult, racists will never admit that they're racist. They claim the black community is rotten to the core and as a whole condones violence and that BLM speaks all black people. if this is the case then The white community is morally bankrupt for bombing churches of innocent black people and allowing killers to escape justice. White doctors experimented on black people without consent. The governor of a state (who you could say represents the community) literally stood in front of a school to stop black people from enrolling. The police set dogs and fire hoses on peaceful marches and hospitals refused to treat them. Black people were killed just for helping others register to vote. Even worse there are pictures of entire communities viewing the lynchings of black men. So using this logic the white community is all racist and condones racism and the slaughter of innocents. But on this board a few black people who commit crimes means black culture bad. So if black culture is bad, so is white culture. For the record i don't think most white people are racist or that police are "hunting down" black men. I'm a black conservative and I believe there are black people who need to make better choices and quit making excuses. However, every black person I know personally, including democrats, think the looting is stupid. Since you guys don't actually seem to know any black people, you don't see the many black people who have condemned the violence and called looters animals. The media doesn't cover them though because it doesn't fit the narrative. Really you are just being played by the media, who are trying to drive division. Some people on here need to admit that they have racist views, and the media is exploiting your biases perfectly.

That said, they still instilled a lot of fear in the hearts of minorities at the time
I expect the entire democratic governments from top to bottom were a source of fear for minorities.
Just in addition to your referenced Wikipedia article you omitted this "At its peak in the mid-1920s, the organization claimed to include about 15% of the nation's eligible population, approximately 4–5 million men."
Because there is no evidence that it's true and lots that it isn't. I'm sure they would claim way more support than they really had. They didn't have that many members though.
Not all Blacks are Democrats, what is your point?
Blacks predominantly vote democrat. Quite an amazing feat of stupidity IMO, given the lengthy and continual racist history of the democratic party, their close links to the KKK and their repeated opposition to civil rights laws (pushed and passed by republicans).
But that statement was about the KKK, which were always democrat. There's only one black KKK member that I know of, a cop who went undercover (good job they wore hoods eh?!)
For some strange reason it is easy for you to understand that the entire white community did not support the KKK but you cannot fathom the idea that it is the same in the black community when it comes to some of the excess of the BLM. Why?
Only a Sith deals in absolutes. You seen incapable of understanding nuance, balance and anything other than all-or-nothing scenarios. You're a tiresome fool.
The KKK never enjoyed anything other than fringe support from a few thousand people. BLM appears to have significantly more support in the black community by comparison. It's really not difficult to grasp is it?

Just like JWs will never admit they're a cult, racists will never admit that they're racist.
That's why the accusation of "racist" is so insidious. It's powerful because there is no way to defend yourself - anyone saying "I'm not racist, honestly" sounds guilty. The power of it exists because the overwhelming majority of people are not racist and don't want to be accused of it or associate with those who are, but the power has been misused too often and at some point will lose meaning which will then be a worse situation to have.
They claim the black community is rotten to the core and as a whole condones violence and that BLM speaks all black people.
I don't believe that BLM speaks for all black people. I believe there is a moral majority that wants to succeed and prosper like everyone else, but too often BLM are grabbing the mic and the left amplifies them and promotes their behavior.
The white community is morally bankrupt for bombing churches of innocent black people and allowing killers to escape justice.
More than morally bankrupt, actually guilty of crimes and prosecuted when it happens now (but less so in the past in democrat governed areas). Just as guilty are the many cases of faked hate crimes where black people have burned down or vandalized their own churches or painted graffiti on their own vehicles.
White doctors experimented on black people without consent.
They still do, there are credible claims that vaccines are tested on people in Africa.
The governor of a state (who you could say represents the community) literally stood in front of a school to stop black people from enrolling. The police set dogs and fire hoses on peaceful marches and hospitals refused to treat them. Black people were killed just for helping others register to vote.
Yes, and the laws were changed and the federal government stopped these things happening. Again, it was almost always democrat controlled areas where this happened.
Even worse there are pictures of entire communities viewing the lynchings of black men. So using this logic the white community is all racist and condones racism and the slaughter of innocents.
Communities would also watch the hangings of white criminals, seems like a macabre public event but then they also burned or drowned white women for being "witches" at one point too.
But on this board a few black people who commit crimes means black culture bad. So if black culture is bad, so is white culture.
You do know when someone says something about a group being a % of a population but responsible for some other % of something that no one (AFAIK) means that the entirety of the population is doing that thing, right? It just means that the people doing something come from that % of the population. Depending on the % and the occurrences of 'the thing' that can mean there is more or less prevalence of the thing.
Whether it's reality or not, the projection seems to be that blacks care far more about criminals in their midst than white people do which I think is the source of this.
The appearance is that blacks are more likely to be involved in crime. Part of this, I think, comes from groups like BLM and protests always seeming to be over people who turn out to have died while committing crime. It's a constant media diet of black-man + crime, shown and repeated on a loop.
If the prevalence of crime is higher in a certain community, I don't think it's unreasonable to look at the culture of those communities and question whether something is awry.
For the record i don't think most white people are racist or that police are "hunting down" black men.
Agreed. In this current case there is no evidence yet that racism was even a factor, that's just something that's been claimed to hype the issue (see the first point on over-use of the claim). This has sadly been repeated in other examples - the media and others are only interested in white-cop + black-corpse situations.
This is why I am critical of BLM and those who support them (the dems + media they control / who support them). They go ahead with things that they must know will show them in a bad light. It's a conspiracy of BLM, the democrat-controlled areas where the looting and rioting happens and the media who then push the story of racial tension. It's all part of their "fear-for-votes" strategy. Black people need to be kept angry and voting for dems, independents need to think that the country is falling apart so they vote for the people promising fixes. The fixes do little but transfer wealth, the areas with the highest crime rates and the biggest problems are always democrat controlled and have been for many, many decades.
I think black people have it entirely within their capability to fix their own issues. Anyone can succeed in America by simply working hard and making good life choices. That so many make poor choices goes back to why people then look at the culture and call it "bad". So much of the culture, to an outsider, seems designed to prevent people from succeeding and taking part in opportunities.
Not really related to your post specifically, but I think this is a good breakdown of whether there is a huge problem with racism or not.
