The theme of Feeding Many Through the Hands of a Few was discussed at a recent CLAM, and it was based on a WT article from 5 years ago. For some reason though they changed the picture that goes with it. Usually people are erased from pictures when they defect, but this doesn't look too different, just like they made him have more delicate features.
They've given him a nose job and he looks less ethnic.

The change is indeed mostly in Jesus' face. Overall the lighting/contrast has changed, and on the top, left side, and bottom, there is more in the pic itself. Maybe someone just wanted some variation?
And why is he holding a bagel with a bite taken out of it?
He looked too Aramaic (Muslim) in the first picture so they made look Germanic or Caucasian.
Jesus was a Hebrew so the first picture was probably more accurate.

Exactly! It was so stupid when they had Bible characters with their hair obviously in rollers the night before in the '60s, feathered in the '70s and permed in the '80s. 😅
These kinds of tweaks just indicate the WT "Creative" people don't have anything substantive or meaningful to do.

It’s no mistake, just part of the rebranding in order to keep the Dubs, especially the young adults/born-ins from becoming disenfranchised. Companies only change their brand when it’s absolutely necessary.
Jesus Van Der Beek is the newer, fresher, more handsome and Caucasian Jesus. One that will appeal to the younger Dubs that have been constantly exposed to Hollywood’s ideal of what an attractive human looks like.
The formula works. We are all more likely to take that extra look, or listen for that extra second if the propagandist is attractive. This increases the chances for success, because like horny young men at Spring Break, the GB know it’s a numbers game.
