When I was a JW, I relished explaining my beliefs and why we had the Truth! Lol

I also think that past JWs couldn't really explain their beliefs. What they used to be able to do was attack the Catholic Church. That was about it.

Today's JWs can't even do that.

When I was active, I was delighted to have the opportunity to discuss the scriptural teachings I had learned. Ominously, even J.W. elders who put themselves in a public place at a trolley will very quickly end a conversation and refuse to discuss any of the org's scriptural/organizational corruptions. They'll claim it's because they're not prepared to argue or debate.

As moreconfusedthanever said, they'll terminate the discussion by saying you should visit their God-blessed website for answers.

Every J.W. who uses this as a get-out-of jail-free-card is flagrantly rejecting the Biblical command for Christians to respectfully defend/explain their beliefs to anyone who demands a reason for such beliefs. (1 Peter 3:15)

Agreed. However, the JW will look at that Bible directive and see only the words (1 Peter 3:15) But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild temper and deep respect.

And their eyes will glaze over and they, being ALWAYS READY, will robotically point the other person to the web-site. Never will they truly understand that is NOT what is meant by that Scripture. Sad.

No they cannot. Nor do they feel they need to. They think it's all about being on what they feel is the right team.

I think they gave up long ago in trying to explain their so-called beliefs. That's why there is dumbed-down literature and those carts you see in public places. They are not about Bible debates of years ago. They are about encouraging people to look up their Org.
